Vanessa slid out of her sleeping back, grabbing the sword that lay beside her. Personally, she didn't want to kill anyone. But as her mentor had said, it was the only way to win. She ran after the two, wincing as pain shot through her ankle. When she had caught up to them, she saw Brook was doing pretty well herself. But, still Van went to help. She crept up behind Firefly, who was busy fighting Brook, and tightened her grip on the sword. Vanessa got ready to plunge the sword through Firefly.

I saw Vanessa make a move after my knife fell short, and sprinted in behind her, hefting my spear. A couple of thoughts went through my head, but only one seemed to stick, 'Let this hit'. It was also the last thought I had before lunging at Firefly with my spear.

I Turned around and aimed an arrow at Brook. I wondered if James could see me now, I knew I'd never live through this so I sent a silent prayer to every entity I could come up with, even the capital. "I left in peace and this is how you repay me? I was going away, probably would die by dehydration anyways." I sneered then sent the arrow flying.

I saw her arrow coming up to shoot me, I just had time to bring up my sword and deflect a fatal shot as the arrow pierced through my left arm. "Drop your weapon Firefly," I warned "And we'll let you live until we don't need you anymore." I retaliated her attack with one of my own.

"Why would you need me alive?" I asked her deftly. "Bait for the other Alliance?" I asked. I didn't drop my weapon as she attacked, but I readied it, in case I needed to use it.

I stalked around Firefly, keeping my spear aimed at her but ready to block. It would be tough, but it wasn't impossible to catch an arrow or deflect it with the spear shaft, it was wide enough.

"Oh make no mistake we don't need you." I told her darkly, "I'm just going to see if you're willing to be useful. Or if you want to die. Full out die right here. Right now." I attacked with my sword again, not aiming for a lethal shot but just something to weaken her.

I grunted then hit the ground "Fine. I agree, keep me alive, I'll fight for you." I said, glaring at her.

She hit the ground but my angry mind wanted one more shot of revenge. So I stabbed downwards then spat on her, "As I said you're dirt to me. You get to live. For now."

I walk up behind Firefly and strip away the Bow, tossing it back, then I find the arrows and take them all away as well. I put them in my pack and pick up the Bow. "Van will be happy" I say contently, this gave our group a combat advantage.

"No! Not my bow! Its my only way of surviving!' I nearly shouted. But I stayed down, I was in to bad of a condition to even try to move.

Vanessa twirled her sword, glancing at Brook with widened eyes. Brook never left the impression she could be so cold and...Murderous. In her shock, she had dropped the sword, but she left it there. Van walked to Jacob, holding out a hand. "I'll take that." She said with a smile, motioning to the bow and quiver filled with arrows. Vanessa spotted Firefly on the ground. She immediately felt sympathy for the girl. Sorry... She mouthed to Firefly quickly, before turning back to Jacob.

I handed the bow over and took out the quiver. Handing it over, I mutter, "She didn't really get much chance to use them, hand to hand fighting isn't the best place for these"

I knelt down on Firefly's throat. "Make no mistake. I'll kill you, No mistakes. No hesitation. You're dead." I dug my sword out and plunged it downwards intent on injuring her again, but not killing her.
