Subject: Beautiful Tragedies (Lupa and I only~) Sun Mar 16, 2014 1:15 pm

Fallon had finally done it, she had packed up her stuff and took the money she had saved up and she moved out, although she only moved out to live in a small abandoned shack. It was fairly decent didn't stop the cold winters though, she had a tattered blanket and a pillow but it was better than nothing, she hardly had anything called a bed. She managed to survive though and that was all she needed. As of today, she had been used to stealing food here and there, and she normally was fairly fast. Well today Fallon needed fresh bread and unfortunately bread was the hardest to steal besides a silly cake. Fallon sighed and she walked through the districts and she could smell the sweet scent of the bakery and she followed her nose. It was busy so it was easier to steal this morning.

She walked in and slipped into the crowd and she looked either way and then she grabbed the loaf of bread and she hid it in her coat and she just walked out. As she walked out a little ways someone screamed. "Thief! Thief! She stole bread!" Someone cried out and that was when Fallon began to book it down the streets trying to turn into alleys and trying to lost them but it was nearly impossible, and soon not watching the ways she was turning she came up at a dead end and right as she turned around she saw a group of peacekeepers. The lead guy grabbed her and the other took the bread. "We do special things to people like you." The peacekeeper hissed at her, sending a shiver down her spine.

Fallon was soon dragged off to the centre of the square and he threw up against the whipping post and two other peacekeepers tied her hands to it so she couldn't go anywhere. Fallon began to cry and trying to move her hands, she didn't want to be whipped she didn't mean any harm. She didn't do anything! She was just trying to feed herself and survive. "I didn't mean any harm!" She wailed out. "That's what they all say!" he snapped and then soon she heard the sound of the whip and it hit her back and she winced in pain biting her lip in order not to cry out. Several times she was whipped over and over, and she cried out several times, it was when her knees gave out that they stopped and untied her.

When Fallon regained some strength and stumbled toward the spring fed lake, it wasn't far. When she got there she laid down and her breathing was heavy. It was a nice day out today at least, and she had the clouds to look at, she was still crying, and was too weak to be more mobile. Fallon never felt more alone in her life until now. Knowing that she had no family to watch over her, because she disgraced them and she moved out, not really having friends to start with. In this moment, it was kinda peaceful, and that's when Fallon was thinking whether she was going to die or not.

Storm's head snapped around at the call of a thief, mocking the rest of the crowd in the marketplace. That was natural protocol, follow the masses until you had to run. But his heart was already racing; he hadn't even stolen anything yet! Had they finally recognized him? No, they'd said she. Storm was fairly certain he was a he, and didn't look like a she, so that ruled him out of the equation. The crowd was parting near the bakery, and Peacekeepers were already swarming. He felt bad, knowing what would most likely happen to the girl when they caught her, but he couldn't see for the crowd and he couldn't stop a peacekeeper anyway. So, in the confusion, he grabbed his earlier target, a few wedges of cheese, shoved it in his pocket, and moved with the crowd, away from the girl. He was long gone by the time her screams filled the marketplace.

It was about an hour later when he headed out to the lake. He'd dropped the cheese off at home without so much as a word to anyone except Kayden, and left again, toting a small bit of bread and one of the wedges as a snack. The incident in the marketplace had reminded him again of his older sister; even though she'd never been caught, that had been one of his nightmares until...well, everyone knew what happened. So he'd gone to the place that had happy memories, even without his little brother to tote along.
He didn't notice Fallon until he was right next to her, as he wasn't really focused and she was laying on the ground. So when he did notice her, he didn't notice the tears. "Oh, hey Fallon, long ti- What happened?" He sat down beside her, noticing the tears and pain written all over her face. It couldn't have been what he thought, right?

Fallon had been laying there in the peacefulness for what seemed like an eternity. Fallon closed her eyes and she could feel herself sink a bit. Almost as if the ground was swallowing her whole and they were just going to decompose of her body. She could smell the damp ground that was beneath her, and while the cold ground numbed her back at the same time she could still feel each of the scars left on her back marking her body. Fallon didn't want to return to anywhere and if she died she'd be glad it was out here, the birds chirping singing their tune and the calm breeze passing in, carrying the sound of footsteps. Footsteps? Fallon opened her eyes startled and then her vision blurred and it was too difficult to see anyways.

She soon saw a figure standing close to her and then she heard the voice realizing who it was. Storm. He was the closest thing she had ever made to a friend, they've met on two different matters, and this was now their third encounter. As Storm sat beside her, she saw his face and she was instantly reminded of the first time they met, it was a brighter day that day, and warmer too. Fallon didn't know how to find her words, and it was like they were stuck in her throat. Soon a single tear fell from her face as she thought of what happened to her. She squeezed her eyes shut and then a small sigh managed to escape her lips.

"I needed food" She managed to speak out and her eyes looked over to meet his. His were calming to look at and fixate on a point. "I tried to steal some..but I was caught." She said just barely above a whisper and then she continued to look at his eyes and felt a bit of warmth with that. "I finally did it though." She said while the corners of her lips turned up slightly in a smile that took most of her energy but she managed it.

Whatever smile had still remained on Storm's face slipped away. He hadn't expected her to try it. Hell, he knew it was reckless to steal as often as he did, but he had to. She didn't, or maybe she did. The cheese in his pocket felt a bit heavier now, knowing what had to happen to get it. "Heh, you did didn't you?" Storm forced a smile back onto his face. That's what she needed, right?
After a second's pause, he pulled out the "snack" he'd brought and pressed it into her hand. "That's for later, when you can manage it," he said, trying to buy some time to think about what to do, "You should probably uh... you should probably just rest a bit longer." He didn't want to show it, but Storm really had no idea what to do for the whip's strikes; he'd never had to deal with them before. But she seemed okay where she was so that was good right? They'd figure out how to treat it when she could move again.

Fallon looked at him and her small smile was still placed on her face. Soon she felt him press something into her hand, she was unsure of what it was but given the feeling she had a fairly good guess. Her fingers closed loosely around the cheese and then she gave a small nod of thanks. That's when Storm mentioned it might be better if she were to rest there and she knew it was probably the best, Fallon wasn't very mobile, and not that Storm wasn't strong or anything but carrying her for two reasons could be a bad idea. One being, they both couldn't afford good help anyways so he'd be aimlessly carrying her around which would be tiring and she'd just be a burden. Two, because there wasn't many ways to carry her and not be touching one of the places she had been hit with the whip.

Fallon closed her eyes for awhile and she thought about things for a bit. She didn't know what to really say, and she didn't know much about him. "You know." She started with her eyes still closed and then she took a shaky breath in and then continued, "I don't know much about you, but we keep running into each other" She said, which ultimately this was just her trying to open up for a conversation potentially. Fallon could tell it was a bit easier to talk now, but it was difficult to stay audible enough for him to hear. "We could play twenty questions, and I could know you better" Fallon said softly and she now began to open her eyes and she looked over at him. It'd be nice to actually get to know him more than she did, she only really knew his name and that he stole food because he had to, but she didn't know other things, like favourite colour, or weather that was most favoured, or just anything in general, she didn't know much, she didn't even know his last name.

As Fallon rested, Storm moved a bit so he could lay down beside her. It was a bit awkward sitting there, looking down, so he'd decided to fix that. Hopefully he didn't make it worse. "Well, you're right about that," he said with a laugh as she spoke. Of course, it'd been a while since the last time, but that didn't really matter, did it? "Questions, huh? That sounds...interesting." He turned his head to the side, to actually look at her while on his back. "Sunrise or Sunset?" he asked after a minute. It was a stupid question, but it could really tell you a lot about a person.

Fallon watched as he shifted to lay beside her. It made her feel not so alone, and she felt like someone cared enough to actually stay with her. It made her happy and distracted her from the pain and stinging from her wounds. He soon agreed to twenty questions and then he started first. Asking sunrise or sunset. She thought for a few moments then replied, "Sunrise" She said looking over at him. She was now trying to think of a question to ask him in return. "What's your favourite animal?" She asked him, just something simple to start off with there was no need to get very personal with the questions. Plus everyone had a favourite animal.

"So you're an optimist then," he said, almost to himself. That was good, it meant she'd probably be just fine. She asked his favorite animal, but Storm wasn't quite sure on that. He looked up to the sky, as if an answer was up there. "I'd say... a raven," he said at last; the bird was usually seen in a poor light, but they seemed smart and reminded him of someone else, so it made sense. At least, to him it did. "So... do you have a favorite grain?" The stupid questions continued, but hey, at least she wasn't focused on the pain anymore.

Fallon could hear the sound of the water, it had a light sound of lightly hitting the ground and then she sighed softly waiting for his answer. When he mentioned ravens she was a little surprised but to her it felt like he was even more mysterious now. Ravens were often looked at as a symbol of change, so would Storm be like a raven then? He kinda changed how her day was going now. She heard his next question of if she had a favourite grain. "Hmm, I like flax-seed." She said in reply and there wasn't much hesitation for her next question, "What's your favourite colour?"

Storm pictured the plant in his mind; it was a bit difficult, seeing as he'd never actually worked with them, but he'd at least seen it before. That was interestingly useless, he realized. She asked his favorite color, and the response was immediate. "Gray, definitely gray," Storm said it with a smile though, so it was obvious the color didn't really make him sad, like a normal person. The next question didn't take to long to come to mind. "Rain or Sun?" he asked, glancing back up at the sky, which showed no signs of storming.

She heard his response and it was gray, but he gave a smile to her, so he wasn't a dark personality. Fallon laid there, nothing else she could do, laying on her whip lashes probably wasn't the best idea but the cool ground sort of felt nice. She heard his next question and she pondered for a moment, and she looked up at the sky. "I like rain, it's refreshing." She said with a small smile forming on her lips again and she thought for a moment looking around and then her eyes looked back at his. "What are some of your hobbies, besides stealing." She said the last part jokingly teasing him a bit and was now waiting for the answer but she was a patient person, Fallon wondered a lot of things about Storm but she was keeping things simple, and she didn't want to hit rough waters, at least if she was going to do that, do it near the end.

"Really? Heh, me too," he said with a look back up to the sky. It totally had nothing to do with his name... right? Yeah, no way, it was coincidence that Storm liked the rain better.
He let out a laugh at her next question. Then quickly stopped, realizing she was serious. "Well, um," Did Storm even have hobbies? "I don't really have the time for hobbies... but this is nice," He gestured towards the sky as he said it. It was pretty ironic, not having time for hobbies but just enough to stop and talk to Fallon. "What's your favorite season?" he asked quickly. He didn't want the girl to get stuck on the fact that he did absolutely nothing in his life. Well, nothing he was gonna tell her about.

Fallon's smile grew as he mentioned that he liked rain over the sun too. In all reality in the end Fallon loved snow more than any of them. She loved to watch the fluffy white snow flakes fall from the sky and then have the trees compliment the white snow that'd lay on the ground. Soon though he answered her question, and she felt bad that he didn't really have hobbies. Although that was a bit understandable to not really have the time for it. He went on quickly asking her another question and this was an easy one to answer. "Winter." She said and then she looked at the sky somewhat wishing for snow but most of it was melting these days. "I like to watch it fall, it's beautiful." She said and then she looked over at him, "Socks or no socks?" She asked, just the first random question that came to mind.

[color=white]Storm had to disagree there. Maybe it was just the harder times it brought on, but he didn't really care for winter. Summer, that was the best time in his opinion. "I can see that," he said, though he really didn't. Snow wasn't all too pretty to him. "What kind of question is that?" he laughed, before looking towards his feet. "Well...uh, I guess socks. When I've got 'em." Storm didn't feel too bad about his own questions now. "Hmmm... do you like dancing?"

Fallon heard him answer her and she smiled. Socks, well it was rather sad that he only mentioned that when he had them. She wasn't sure if she'd have enough socks to last her, not like she was able to wash her clothes this time of year, it was still far too cold. Soon his next question came along and he had asked if she danced. She smiled, and this time it was one of the most genuine and heart felt ones. Dancing was her passion, it was her absolute favourite. "No I don't like dancing, I love dancing." She said and then wished she wasn't in the state that she was othewise she'd show him. "I wish I could show you just how much I like dancing, but unfortunately, stealing bread prohibits me." She said with a small giggle and then she was thinking of something to ask back when a smirk came upon her face and she just had to ask it. "Uh, have you ever got caught in a ... Storm?" She said grinning at the joke she had just
made.

So she loved to dance. That was cool, considering Storm had never tried. He chuckled as she mentioned the bread. He was about to say something, then he noticed her smirk. Uh-oh. The question brought on a full-out laugh. "I dunno, have you ever..." he shook his head at the question he was about to ask, "fallen?" The pun was so stupid, he could barely keep a straight face as he said it.

Fallon began to laugh at the joke that Storm had managed to form after hers. She enjoyed Storm's company it was comforting, and it had been a long while since it felt like she had an actual friend, and she hoped that they'd continue to hang out after this. "Well actually yes I have fallen." She said with a small smile on her face and then she sat there and was trying to think of what to ask now. "What's your favourite kind of potato?" She asked grinning, she knew there was other kinds of potatoes but she had never tried them herself.

Fallon listened to Storm as he spoke and when he had asked if there was more than one potato she laughed a bit. It was kind of cute to see him ask about it and she wasn't sure if he was joking or not but she figured she'd answer anyways. "Yea there's more than one, I don't know the different names and I haven't tried a lot of them but there is more than one." She said and then she looked up at the fluffy clouds for awhile until she looked over at him. "What's your full name?" She asked him.

"Well, the more you know," he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. Was everything like grain, with a hundred different types you had to keep straight? He almost missed her next question, caught up in his own thoughts about potatoes. "Oh, that's uh...promise not to laugh, my parents are weird... it's Storm Rodric Avian." He quickly launched into the next question before she could have the time to laugh at it, "So, what's yours?"

Fallon grinned, and felt bad he had never known about the different kinds of potatoes and it really was kinda cute to her and she couldn't help but grin at it. Soon he had replied to her question. Avian? She knew that last name why was it familiar? She then heard his question and she smiled, "Well." She said trailing off a bit, as she thought about her last name, she almost hated it but it was what it was. "Fallon, Stacey King." She said to him smiling now. She was thinking what she was going to ask trying to think of any possible thing she could ask but then realized she did have something that she could ask. "Did you have a sibling in the games?" She asked. She remembered that name and she was sure it was during the games. She turned her had to look over at him and gave him sympathetic eyes, she didn't know the extent of what it'd be like to lose a sibling to the games, but she imagined it was difficult.

At least she didn't laugh. "Yours isn't too bad, Stacey," he said with a smile. King seemed familiar, but he wasn't sure where it was from. So he just let it go. Then her next question came and his smile faded a bit. A sibling in the Games? "Yeah," Storm's voice went quiet with that. He looked back up at the sky for a while. Then he realized it was his turn to ask a question. "Do you have a brother named Simon?" he asked, remembering the guy from the Tournament. Simon King was a huge guy though, there was no way a tiny girl like Fallon was related, right?

She listened as he replied to her full name and she smiled. It wasn't that bad, but she didn't take a huge interest towards it, it just wasn't what she would have given herself for a middle name. Then his response to her question made her a bit sad, she felt so bad for him. Having to lose a sister to the games. Fallon was lucky Simon was too old to be reaped adn he got past all the reapings. That was when his next question came and she looked at him a little puzzled, "Yea, you know Simon?" She asked which she was fairly sure that'd count as a question.

Storm just shook his head. No way could he be Fallon's brother. The difference between them was staggering. She was looking at him, slightly confused, and he realized she'd asked a question. "Not exactly," he laughed, "Remember that tournament a while back? He wasn't the Simon King that participated, was he?" Yes, that did actually count as a question, because her question counted, so ha.

Fallon listened to him and grinned, "Yea I remember it." Then his next question came and he was asking if it was the same Simon. She rolled her eyes. "Yes same one." She looked at him and she laughed a bit, she had a good guess what he was thinking. "I know, he's real tall and big and stuff, and here I am all tiny, it's because our parents made him grow strong, the height came from my father. As for me I took more after my mother anyways." She said shrugging, she still had blonde hair like her brother so there was that. "I think I should try and get up now and we can try to find some help, these wounds wont heal on their own." Fallon said, but she was too scared to try and lift up herself, she was going to wait for him to help her up.
