I was roughly knocked to the ground, and I struggled to regain my breath. Taking a minute to compose myself, I slowly got up, putting my hands out underneath me to lift myself up. After i was standing solidly again, I jabbed the mutt with the arrow, hoping to wound it. Noticing that the other tributes were trying to find an exit, I also started to look. I knew that there had to be a way to get to saftey somehow.

I was knocked to the ground again, having no way to stop the creature from smashing the earth. I looked around to get my bearings as I got to my feet, but the only things I was able to focus on was the district 1 girl and the massive figure in front of me. Without another moment's hesitation, I ran in and slashed at the figure before darting back out. I looked around again, hoping to find an exit path before the thing killed me.

I jumped back, away from the creatures intense swipe. Choosing not to escape, even though I found I route, I turned back to Luke. "I won't abandon you. I promise." I looked him in the eye and said, "Career's honor." With another, hopefully fatal, blow to the mutt, I knew that its days were numbered. And in these games, so were mine.

I'm too close to the creature to get away, but I hold up both my weapons to block the creature's latest swipe. I see the District One girl has found a path out, and Solange is nowhere to be seen. But as soon as I think I'll be alone again, the girl turns back and says something about not leaving me. I give her a nod to show I understand, and strike out at the mutt, only to realize she had killed the thing already.

The mutt, sensing it was in rough shape, fled into the dark, its primitive mind no doubt vowing revenge.

I did, but I blocked the attack.

I looked back at where the creature had fled from, and clenched my fist. Feeling a sharp pain in my palm, I looked down and saw that my nails, now much longer than I was accustomed to, we're digging ino my hand.
With barrels of sarcasm, I thought, "Wow Amz! You are in a brutal contest to the death, and you're thinking about a manicure. Just... Wow."
To distract myself, I wondered end if I had any sponcers.

I sighed and allowed myself to relax slightly as the beast fled. The immediate threat was gone, but this girl could turn on me at any second, and she seemed to be better than me. I can almost hear my uncle Deku's voice What kind of man are you? How can you let a girl defeat you?!. Well, she hasn't turned on me yet, so I might as well get her help. I turn back to the girl. " So, what's next?" I ask, trying to make my tone light.

I smiled and said, "I figure that we should work together. We'd survive longer. I mean, if its okay with you." With a pause I frowned and said, "Some people think that an alliance this late in the game is a bad idea, but..." I looked around and felt a smile at the corners of my mouth. "Screw them."

I nod as she talks, suggesting an alliance. I return her smile at her last statement screw them. I let her words hang in the air for a moment, pretending to think about it. "I'm fine with that. The longer we last, the better, right?" I say finally.

A gust of wind rustles the branches and shakes more rainwater down on the tributes, as if the constant downpour wasn't enough.

Rolling my eyes, I walked over to where the dead tributes medical kit was. With a slight hesitant pause, I applied some to my wounds, then offered it to Luke. "With this med kit, I thee ally." I shook my head, hoping to dry off. With a deep breath I wondered what we should do.

I follow her to where she left the med kit and watch her use it to heal her injuries. "Thanks, ally," I say with a smile as I accept the med kit. As I apply medicine to my wounds, I think of what to do next. "We should move on, before anything else shows up," I say when I'm done, then I look at the med kit, "And we should take this with us."

The Medkit didn't have much left in it, most of the contents must have been lost when Cedar had been killed.

I nodded at his last statement. The sooner we get moving, the better. Looking at the med kit, I realized it didn't have much left. I clenched my jaw, air hissing out of my teeth. If we were going to get help from sponsers, now would be the best time. Charging into battle wounded would be the dumbest, and the last thing we ever do. Looking at Luke's wounds, I knew he was worse off than I was. "You heal first." I commanded. I looked around he ground for anything useful. I was pretty knowledgeable about healing herbs and stuff.

I sigh. I want to get out of here, but I also need to heal. And right now my wounds need more treatment than I thought. "Fine, fine," I say, pulling more from the quickly depleting medkit to treat my injuries

I squealed with delight. I called to Luke with hope in my voice. "One second Luke! Someone sent us something..." I walked over the the silver parachute, lustrously glowing in the rain-dampened grass. I brushed my hands on my pants and peered inside. I pulled out the gift and gasped. Someone cared about us? Without hesitating, I twirled around on the balls of my feet and showed it to Luke. My eyes gleaming with pride and determination, I looked at one of the cameras hidden in the trees. Seriously, they don't even try to hide them anymore. I nodded at the camera, as if to thank whoever did this.

After a little bit, I realize I must be doing something wrong with the med supplies. I try a different combination on a smaller wound, hoping I'll get it right this time. Then Amy's calling to me, so I look up. I smile as she shows me her gift. At least one of us is being rooted for in the capital

Inside the package was a loaf of fresh bread, a bottle of water and two short knives.

I pulled out a bottle of water. After pouring some in my mouth, I handed it to Luke. "Oh my God! That is so amazing." After being dehydrated for so long, I felt the cool liquid run down my throat. Next, I pulled out a warm piece of bread and broke it in half. I handed one half to Luke and looked at mine. It was the good kind of bread, warm and slightly moist: the outside a yummy golden brown. Once, I got this kind of treat for my birthday dinner. My mouth watered just thinking about it. My hands shook, and I stuffed a small chunk inside my mouth. Looking at the third and final gift I gasped. A small tear of joy escaped my suprise-widened eyes. "A knife. My...favorite weapon." Giving him one, I turned mine in my hands. "It reminds me of my brother. He taught me all I know. By the way, can I see that med kit?"
