| Rhea laughed and shook her head. "Yea I know, I will probably be kicking myself for raising my hand for the rest of my life. But I just couldn't let her go in. I saw the fear in her and my brother's eyes and I think I would regret it even more if I didn't volunteer." She sighed and cradled her head in her hands. "I guess I'm just overwhelmed. So many things to consider when your life is on the line. How to make a good impression with the audience, how to stay alive, who to trust and who to avoid and then of course how to stay out of my own head. I guess I just need some sleep. I haven't really slept since that morning and I guess it is making it harder for me to keep it all together." Rhea ran her fingers through her hair and pushed her blonde bangs away from her eyes. She pushed herself away from the couch and started towards the room designated for her. Before she got to far she turned to face Katya once more. "I'm gonna sleep some before we get there. Try to clear my mind and prepare for the next few days. Thanks again for the advice. I guess I will see you when we get there." Rhea smiled genuinely at her mentor. She was truly grateful to hear the advice and to know that there was someone on the outside who was going to look out for her.
Rhea walked to her room, which was a small room in the compartment next to the dining train. In it was a twin sized bed with a lovely silk blanket on top. And connected to the room was a bathroom that contained all the normal Capitol amenities, most notable was the shower with the different perfume settings. Rhea moved to the dresser that was across from her bed and opened to see clothes piled inside of all different sizes. She pulled out a pair of silky pajamas, they felt good to the touch. She slipped out of her Reaping day dress and pulled the pajamas over head. She held onto the necklace her father gave her before she left, remembering those last few moments with them. She couldn't help but cry a little, thinking of home and the possibility of never seeing it again weighed heavy on Rhea's mind. She tried not thinking of home, but it was hard. She pulled the covers on the bed back, laid down and pulled the covers over her. Almost as soon as she hit the bed she was asleep. | |
