Valerie tied her hair up into a sleek ponytail and checked her makeup in the window of the train, which was slightly reflective. She took a stick of celery from the cart of food, not wanting to ingest too many calories and carbs and not unused to the idea of food, being the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in the district. She finished the stick of celery and looked around, raising an eyebrow at the colorful choices of upholstery. "Heelllooo?" she called. "Is anyone here? Mentor? Male tribute? Escort? Train conductor? Anyone?"

You're an idiot, was all Kaius told himself as he made his way towards the train. The interior looked exquisite, but no matter how fancy it was, it was just as dull as electronics. They were just things. Kaius paced around the carriage, worrying about how this ordeal was gonna go down. His heart ached at the sight of his family's expression when he saw them for the very last time. Kris crossed her arms and shook her head after they made eye contact and she turned away from him, shoulders shaking as she stared at the wall. Kaius had never seen his older brother without a smile before. Frevor quickly plastered on a pathetic attempt of a smile as he fist bumped his younger brother. Then came the youngest of them all, the brat started whimpering, "don't go..." Kaius don't know how to comfort and all he could come up was a useless "Sorry, kid. I'll miss you." His parents didn't even have the time to converse with him, Kaius felt blank about that, seeing his mother fuming, and his father grinning. On the surface that was what they showed but their eyes gave their sorrow away.

He really was an idiot. And now, he's going to die. He stopped his pacing and train of thoughts when he heard a girl call through from another carriage. She made him think of back then, when he didn't volunteer with his best friend. Kaius passed by a carriage or two before meeting face to face with the girl. He stared at her, not really greeting nor starting a conversation. Not really knowing how to either.

"Heeyyyy," she said, a slight purr in her voice. She wasn't trying to flirt just yet, she would save that for later, but it was a force of habit. "Aren't we supposed to have, like, a mentor?" Valerie poured herself a cup of water and set it on the little table in front of her, which she was leaning her elbows on, and looked at Kaius with a smile. "Well, aren't you a cutie! What's your name?" Valerie felt no shame in calling Kaius cute. Despite her usual meaning of the word, in this case, she mostly just meant adorable. "Sorry, hun- don't mean to make you uncomfortable," she added, trying to stay a little bit sweeter for the time being. She would have a lot more fun in the Capitol.

Spencer had gotten on the train far earlier then his tributes. Back here once again, it seemed like the train hadn't even been touched since the last time he was here. But he had practically lived on this train a few months ago as he went around district to district to be flaunted around in the Victor Tour. Even the bookcase they had set up was still there and the books messily placed back where he had left them. The first time he laid eyes on the wooden and elaborately decorated bookcase the leather bound books were neatly organized by title but now they had all been moved and replaced with no real organization behind it at all. Now he grabbed another book, one he had already read one time before then and sat down in a nice, plush chair reading while he waited. He wasn't sure what the time was or how long he had waited but it couldn't have been that long before he had fallen asleep with the book nicely on his chest. The tributes must not have really noticed him or chose to ignore him as he slept peacefully as they spoke to each other.

Kaius passed off a smile towards his district partner as she talked, "I'm Kaius. And I'm sure our mentor is somewhere around here." He shrugged when she apologised but he didn't think much about it, as unusual as it is. He began looking around the huge carriage and by the corner, there was a guy no older than them by a few years. The face was unmistakably recognisable as he laid there with a book on him, asleep. A bookshelf nearby looked as if a book burglar rummaged through them Kaius walked up to their mentor, and last Games victor, and squat down staring at him. "Looks like we found him," Kaius said as he started poking Spencer Watts on the cheek.

Valerie raised an eyebrow. "He's seriously sleeping?" She prodded Spencer lightly in the leg with her kitten heels. Wearing heels below three inches was dressing down for her, but she hadn't want to step on someone in the big crowd of people at the Reaping. That would have been soooo embarrasing,Valerie mused, remembering the day's advents. "Hey, you," she called at Spencer, poking him again, a little less gently but without any real stabbing. "Wake up! You're supposed to tell us how to win. Come on, you've got mentoring to do."
