| The District escort steps up on stage and smiles with blindingly white teeth. She starts speaking in a high pitched voice, "Welcome everyone to the Reapings! Today one young man and woman will be chosen to participate in the 27th Annual Hunger Games!" She steps up to the big bowls containing the names of every child in the district, from 12 to 18. Her hands hover above the bowls for a second, as if deciding something. "Now then, Ladies first!" she says, and reaches into the bowl filled with girls names...

| "Live every day to it's fullest, because you never know when yours might end." I miss you I miss your smile And I still shed a tear Every once in a while And even though it's different now You're still here somehow My heart won't let you go And I need you to know I miss you, sha la la la la I miss youKlark began to tense up. He was wearing a plain, orange striped shirt and cakey pants. His shoes were simple, and he looked nicer than he normally did. Klark looked around, and saw that others were nervous, too. You used to call me your dreamer And now I'm living out my dream Oh how I wish you could see Everything that's happening for me I'm thinking back on the past It's true that time is flying by too fast I know you're in a better place, yeah But I wish that I could see your face, oh I know you're where you need to be Even though it's not here with me | |

| .:With a snatch of a paper among thousands, the small envelope was pulled from the big glass bowl. With a deadly taught silence the escort returned to the microphone. A scratch of opening paper, and the escort cleared their voice
"Star Caelum" they called.
.:The silence deflated like a balloon. "Now for the boys." Repeating the same process the escort loudly said into the microphone
"Klark Peterson"
.:The two tributes had been chosen for slaughter, all that would be left would be to cart them off for their grand appearance in the Capitol. "Now then, are there any volunteers?" The escort asked as their two tributes joined them, on stage. | |

| Star froze. Oh... was all she thought, as her mind was rigid. And that boy from before... this is not ideal. I mean, there'll be lots of ghosts, and maybe I can develop psychic abilities, but... I could die. She forced herself to frolic up to the stage with a grin, wondering if anyone would volunteer. Think about all of the ghosts... now CHEER UP!
"La la la la la la la..." Star hummed to herself as she trotted forwards further, giggling. Maybe if I do die, I'll become a ghost and be able to train someone in the art of medium-ship! Ooh, and I'll get to see so many beautiful dead bodies, even if I do die in the bloodbath. The optimistic side of her mind chirped. But she didn't want to die. Not really. |

Him? He knew that no one would volunteer for him, simply give him a goodbye look. The ghost-girl from the workshop's name was called, too. It would be weird, fighting beside her...or with her...or maybe even fighting her. Klark took a deap breath, and walked up onto the platform. As he looked around the croud, he saw his mother and father and...and... ... Sky? Was his brother really awake? Klark could see his younger brother's crystal blue eyes, open, but with fear. He must have just woken up. And now he gets to see his older bruther mutilated. Klark thought. His face became even more pale. | Star looked over at the male tribute who she had just met at the Design Workshops. She followed his gaze to a little boy, and was confused for a moment. Wasn't his brother...?- oh. Oh. That sucks. That really sucks. Poor kid. She felt more sorry for the child, but still pitied them both. Nevertheless, Star beamed at the crowd, but she wondered how long she or the dude from before would live. This seems kind of unreal... is it wrong that all I can think of is that I really hope I at least make it past the bloodbath so I get to see all of the gory stuff, as long a 12 year old or someone I know? She pondered, not really caring if it was something to be ashamed of. |

| ~No, he doesn't need one. He's just kind of freaking out because his brother just woke up from a coma and now his brother gets to watch him kill other people/be killed.~ EDIT:This is Klark's good-bye to his family. I didn't want to double-post, so I'm simply editing. "Live every day to it's fullest, because you never know when yours might end." I miss you I miss your smile And I still shed a tear Every once in a while And even though it's different now You're still here somehow My heart won't let you go And I need you to know I miss you, sha la la la la I miss youThe Peacekeepers took Klark into the Justice Building, and a few minutes later, his mother, father, and brother were there. " Five minutes." The Peacekeeper told him when they came in. The first person that Klark hugged was his mother, who was sobbing. Then his father, who patted him on the shoulder. Klark could tell that his father was trying to keep things together for the sake of his wife and children, but he was obviously having a hard time with it. Finally, Klark bent down to his brother, who was taking everything in with couriosity. He held his brother tight, and his brother wasn't sure how to react. He was...diffrent. Sky wasn't the same boy any more. Normally, Sky would have hugged his brother back, and tears would have formed in his eyes. But now, Sky stood there exprestionless. " Hey there, buddy. Have a nice nap?" Klark was trying to make his brother smile. He wanted to see it one last time before he left, but Sky simply looked at him, confused. Klark rubbed his brothers head, his dark brown hair seaped through the space between his fingers. " I'll try to win. For you," He looked up at his parents. " For us." Klark's eyes began to water, but he had to hold it in. He didn't want his family to see him upset. Peacekeepers came in, and said it was time to leave. He gave one last good-bye to his family, and then they left. And he was alone.

| Star was hustled off to the goodbyes, and waited to meet with her family. She glared at the Peacekeepers on the way, and they glared right back. That one has weird hair... no, no, stop thinking about random stuff! This is serious! she told herself. Star occupied herself by mediating, until, at long last, her family came rushing in along with some man she didn't recognize.
"Star, honey! You can do this! Please, please come home," Star's mother, Lavinia begged her. Star gave her a sad smile and a hug, whispering, "Thank you for always being there for me and being the best mother anyone could hope for."
Web, her father, stood awkwardly in the corner with the other man, and Terryn, her little step-sister, who was crying.
"Staaaa-aaar!" Terryn wept. "Don't leave! I don't want you to die." Star hurried over and wrapped her arms around the small, shaking girl.
"It's okay, sweetie. I'll take care of myself. You stay strong, okay? Don't be sad, everything will be fine," Star promised, hoping she wasn't lying. Her father and the man approached, clearly nervous.
"Well, um... Star, dear? Just in case... just in case you don't, well, come back, I wanted you to meet my new partner.... Terryn's other father. This is Griff Laurel. I didn't want you to feel like you had to live two lives, but I wanted you to meet him at least once, okay? Remember, I love you. Be safe," her father said, kissing her on the top of her head. Griff turned to her.
"Hey, Star. Listen, your dad and my daughter love you more than anything, and I'm sure if I got to know you we could become a true family. So please come back and give everyone that chance. Please. I thought I might lose Terryn when I left her mother to be with your father, but I fought for her. We'll fight for you, okay? Remember that," he whispered. Star's eyes widened. Poor Terryn... and now this, too... Poor Griff. They've been through a lot. I never knew... she realized, and hugged her step-father.
"It's okay. And, just for the record, I accept you being with my dad. I know some kids have problems with their step-family, but this is a time where no fighting should happen, although I can't believe I'm saying that. But though I might not come back in the flesh, I'll always be there in your memories, okay, Terryn?" she murmured to soothe the frightened child.
"Nothing bad is going to happen."
The Peacekeeper forcefully ushered her family away, and, with one last slightly tearful wave at them, she hurried off towards the train. |
