The One With the Brave Soul

Name: Jokk Spaff

Age/Birthday: 13, Math 27th

Gender: Male

District: 5

Family: Jokk is one of the few children who has a rather large family. He lives with his mother, her father, his twin sister, Hade, and his little sister, Mari, which is short for Marianna.

Brief History: When Jokk was young his eldest brother, Derek, was entered in the Hunger Games. All of the family went into panic. They knew he was just old enough to enter the games, and his chances of survival were slim.

As it turns out, they were right. Derek was so close to survival that he came in second place. The moment he was killed, the Spaff family flicked off their TVs. They couldn't believe their eyes. Hade and Jokk were only 7, and Marianna was only 4.

As the years went by, they were able to "skim the surface." The family was pitied by many, and honored by all. Hade, Jokk, and Marianna even got special treatment in school.

Still, the Spaff family didn't have much money, so you couldn't say they were living the good life. Hade and Jokk took over the family, their parents weak and hard to cope with after the death of their first born.

Physical Appearance: Jokk has short, cropped, dark brown hair. Jokk has silver highlights, unlike his sister, whose highlights are golden.

His eyes are nearly black, but their true color is brown. He has thick eyebrows, which are the same color as his eyes.

Jokk has rather tan skin, even though he doesn't spend nearly as much time outside as Hade. He gets his father's tan skin, and doesn't show a trace of his mother's fair skin.

He wears his deceased brother's camo army pants, like his sister. For his shirt, he often doesn't wear one. But, on the rare occasion that he does, he will wear a white, sleeveless undershirt.

Personality: Jokk is outgoing and sarcastic. He will bring sarcasm to any conversation, which he will have with anyone.

He is a smart, witty boy and sees things rather than looks at them. He views something from any perspective. Unlike his sister, if you get to know him, he will trust you, most likely putting his life on the line for you.

Flaw: Jokk is too trusting. This would easily get him killed in the Hunger Games, for he would find it impossible to kill others.

Also, he is extremely afraid of heights. This fear is traced back to when his brother died. He was sliced with a sword, and then pushed off of a mountain side. Jokk has reoccurring dreams of falling off of a mountain to his death.

Pets: His family as a whole has one pet, an Australian Shepard named Falcon.

Derek l Faxel

The One With the Weird Name

Name: Derek Faxel

Age/Birthday: 18/December 29th

Gender: Male

District: Capital

Family: Derek was born into a rich, Capital Family. He was the only child for 14 years, and his parents spoiled him greatly.
Derek's mom's name is Yancy Faxel. Her maiden name was Yancy Trubmen, and her father once won the Hunger Games, making Derek's grandfather a victor.
Derek's father, Herks Faxel, has lived in the Capital his entire life, and knows nothing about the world outside of it's safe borders. He believes that if you don't live to serve the capital, you don't deserve to live, which explains his heavy beer gut.
Derek's little brother Tobias, who is only 4 years old, shows signs of growing up and being like Derek, who doesn't believe a word his parents say, and enjoys following Derek around. Though Derek goes dangerous places, Tobias always manages to keep up, and sees Derek as his rolemodel.

Brief History: Derek was born into a rich, Capital family, and raised to believe that only the capital deserves rights. Derek believed his family for a few years, but completely broke from their beliefs when he turned 7. That was the year he heard his grandfather's tales of murdering six people, and realized just how horrible his world was. Though he couldn't participate in the games, Derek got as fit as he could, and started visiting the 12 districts.

Each district brought something different, but he found his favorite to be the farming district, where he spent countless hours under the hot sun, harvesting his own crops. His parents knew nothing about his visits, and they encouraged him to get out of the house, so Derek continued to work. He often found that his family ended up eating the exact food he harvested, which gave Derek a since of accomplishment.

One year, around the time Derek was 13, a boy whom Derek often worked with, was called out during the reaping. Derek wanted to scream and shout, but instead he jumped on stage and took the place of the boy, claiming to be a legal District 11 citizen. Everyone knew Derek worked in the fields, and they backed up his claim. Derek was shipped off to fight for his life in the Hunger Games, and he ended up winning. His parents were outraged, but were only glad that he survived.

After that, Derek found it hard to leave his little brother, Tobias, behind anywhere. Tobias followed Derek, even though he was a mere baby, and Derek let it happen. The little brother got strong, and a swift runner with the help of Derek, and gradually, the two formed a strong bond. Currently, Derek is applying to be a stylist in the games, and he still works in District 11.

Physical Appearance: Derek has messy, black hair. It hangs over his forehead, and plays with the top of his eyelids. Normally, it isn't extremely messy, but after working in the fields, it can get untamed. He has tried to keep his hair normal on countless occasions, but it never listens.

Derek's eyes are dark brown, and complete his goth look. Derek isn't a goth under any circumstances, but he does appear to be one if you just look at his hair and eyes. His eyes are rather large, and teardrop shaped, and bordered by thick eyebrows.

His skin is naturally fair, but he tanned in the fields, and now has more of an olive complexion. His muscles are rather large from working, and he is built for work, not lazing around.
