Leland yawned as he entered the dining car. He hadn't slept much the night before the Reapings, slightly worried that his luck might run out before his freedom came to fruition. Unfortunately for him, it did. Walking further into the car, Leland grabbed a glass, something that smelled of a fruit, and poured himself some. Turning around, Leland directed himself to a couch and plopped into it. Taking a drink of the glass, a smile crept onto Leland's lips. It tasted sweet, which was good enough for him. Looking around, he attempted to find his partner and mentor, but so far no one was showing their face. Shrugging, Leland took another drink and laid his head back against the window, moving only with the train.

Luna quickly said her goodbyes to her parents and boarded the train. There wasn't anyone to talk to in Four. Any peers she'd ever met had had awkward conversations with her, and they often ended with her running away. She silently admired the moving paradise she had just walked into, making her way to the dining cart. After the traumatizing experience of speaking in front of people, the girl was rather hungry. She selected a round pastry with a bit of something red in the middle. The dessert was crumbling at the edges, and Luna had felt bad for it because it was the only imperfect one of the bunch. She peered around the cart, searching for an empty table. The only one was near a young man taking a sip out of a "drink of glass." ((huehuehue)) The girl froze, taking in his surroundings. Not many other people. Small amount of things to trip over. Window to distract herself. Luna relaxed and seated herself at the table, quietly taking a bite from her sweet dish. She wolfed it down quickly and inserted her fork into her mouth contentedly.

Ben was definitely mal-prepared for facing a new batch of tributes. He found it utterly ridiculous that he'd allowed himself to be coerced into promising not to drink anything for the duration of his time with the tributes. Sure, it was because of Astoria, but when had he ever crumbled because of a woman before? Nevertheless, he was greatly anticipating the day these kids went into their tubes and started to kill one another, because he had a forty five year old scotch waiting to be opened as soon as it happened.

In the meantime, Benjamin would have to try and do his duty as mentor and help these two poor souls. Which is why he found himself strolling into the same train car as them, and smiling kindly, hoping he didn't look too haggard or unsightly. Withdrawal from alcohol could do that, and he knew for one thing he had a terrible migraine. "So, you're this years unlucky ones, huh?"

Upon hearing a male voice speak, Leland looked up. The first thing he noticed was the source of the fork noise. A girl, his partner, sitting nearby, a fork sticking out from her mouth. The second soul he noticed was the source of the voice. Pushing himself up from the couch, Leland nodded. "I guess that'd be us, yea," he said, indicating the girl. "Leland Valerii. You must be Ben," he said, looking at the mentor. He had half a mind to extend his hand, but kept it withdrawn. Dropping back onto the couch, he grabbed his glass and took another drink. Looking at the girl, he shrugged. "Coulda been dealt a better hand, but I can work with this," he thought, sitting back. Turning from her, he looked at the mentor, Ben. "What's first, captain?" he asked, sitting relaxed.

Luna blinked as a man walked up to her and the boy. And talked. To them. She offered a small bow and nodded stiffly as an answer to the man's question. Perhaps the two won't ask her to speak. That would be nice. She then listened to the two's chatter, pulling the fork out of her mouth and setting it on her empty plate. The older man looks familiar. Perhaps a previous victor. Luna assumed he was their mentor. She turned her attention to the other male. He's around her age. And tall. But everyone's tall to Luna. The girl picked at her fingernails as the boy, Leland, if she heard right, ask the newcomer a question that she was wondering herself. Not quite the same, but similar. What do they need to do to survive?

Ben frowned at how he'd been addressed, but he supposed a bow wasn't the strangest thing he'd seen in his life. The boy, however. "First thing is, you never call me captain unless you're standing on a desk. That's a rule." he said, making an 'I don't make em' gesture with his hands, "Second, whatever you're good at in terms of fighting, get better at it, if you're bad at everything, get good at something or you better pray that you've got some other skill that can kill twenty three people." he lectured, taking a seat calmly in the big comfortable chair, which had armrests and everything needed for Benjamin to put on a thoughtful pose. "Once I know what you two are good at, I'll be of more use, and you two need to figure out if you care about privacy now, because we either mentor you separately or together, I don't switch half way through"

Leland nodded his head in acknowledgment. "Likely means "deck," but I'm not about to correct him," he thought to himself. Watching his mentor, Leland thought about the words he was saying. As his mentor sat in a massive chair, Leland pushed himself up into a more comfortable sitting position. Leland nodded to his mentor upon hearing that they needed to get better at what they are good at. "Good with a spear, in terms of combat," he muttered, taking another drink. Thinking, Leland shrugged. "I don't have anything to be private about, so being mentored together is fine with me," he said, glancing at his partner. He slightly hoped she'd be fine with it too, so that he could know about her before entering the arena.

Luna winced as District Four's mentor mentioned talents. Besides running away and being quiet, Luna wasn't very good at much. She lifted a finger up to her chin as her district partner mentioned he could use a spear. She perked up to tell the two that she could kind of use throwing weapons. Then the older man brought up training. She froze. Does she want to be mentored with Leland? Luna's eyes flickered between Leland and her mentor. Why does she suddenly feel so confident around these people? It's not natural for her to be so outspoken! The boy glanced at her expectantly. These two were complete strangers. They would judge her. They may even criticize her, despite the fact that they were all working together. Luna hastily attempted to disguise her twitch as a cough, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink. Being mentored with Leland would be easier, considering how he may be able to help her. But she can't talk with people on her own! There's the fact that being mentored on her own would be even more awkward. This new mentor doesn't seem pushy, but he looks like the type to ask lots of questions. And Luna doesn't like answering questions. She peered up and nodded. "We can be mentored together," she murmured quickly, avoiding eye contact with the two beside her and picked up her fork again. She tapped it against her plate. For the rest of the Games, she was going to try to avoid as many awkward situations as possible. This was bad enough, but Luna couldn't imagine how bad it could be in an arena where kids try to stab each other. Perhaps she could actually make a friend. Yeah, a friend.
