| Female ~ 17 ~ District 1Lola enters the train with high expectations and they were met. Even though she came from the District of Luxury, it was nice and refreshing to actually live in luxury. Chandeliers, suede, chaise lounges. Lola even figured that there must be a hot tub somewhere. There was no time for relaxing. Lola walked past the dining area and went straight to the guest room. The room that she would call home for the day.
When she went in, she saw her suitcase lying on the bed. She didn't bother unpacking everything. No point for one day. She took out a pair of pyjamas for the night and a clean outfit for the arrival the next day. She grabbed her notebook and pencil and saw the TV, prepared with clips from not only the other Reapings, but with previous Hunger Games. Lola liked this.
Lola then decided to watch the Reapings first. She needed to know not only who the other tributes are, but her fellow Careers. Lorelai from District 2 was definitely someone she wanted in the Careers. She wrote all the tributes down, and their personality from what they showed at the Reaping. Whether they were emotional, strong, excited or depressed. Of course the Reaping isn't a perfect representation, but its a start.
Lola then switched to the previous games. She analysed what weapons were efficient, the equipment that could be at the cornucopia and have been for previous games, and what environments they could be put in. Lola couldn't come up with a solid prediction for environment, but she had a list of important items she needed to survive. And that included a weapon.
Lola also looked at the track record for Victors. Boys or girls, district, age. It was quite varied. It seemed to be a mix of boys and girls, but mainly Districts 2 and 7. it turned out that District 1 hasn't won for a few good years. Lola wanted to change that.
Lola's hand started to get tired. She was also feeling peckish. She went into the kitchen to see what glorious food the Capitol offered. She wasn't going to eat bad, fatty or sugary food though. An apple or some strawberries would be better. | |

| Velvet looked up as a girl entered the kitchen, where she was sitting at a table, drinking something the Capitol people called a 'frappuccino.' It was a little sweet for her taste, but good none the less. "Need something?" she asked the girl, who she assumed was one of her tributes. "You know, mentoring? Or were you just going to sit in your cabin and teach yourself?" She chuckled. "I'm here for a reason, you know. If you're not going to use all your resources for the games, you might as well give up now. Because being from a career district doesn't guarantee a win. If you do it wrong, it can guarantee a brutal death. Trust me." Velvet shook her head and took another sip of her drink. She'd been watching the activity on the train since she came in, and was not happy. "So, it's Lola, right? How old are you, Lola? And exactly how did you plan to win the Games by watching the Reapings, where everyone lies to the camera about who they are to get sponsors?"

| Velvet raised an eyebrow. "Nice to meet you, Lola. But I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. If you don't want my help, I can walk out that door right now." She lifted her right arm and gestured behind her to the door without looking. "Now, personally, I'd rather stay and, you know, try and keep you from the horrible death of some lanky District 9 kid stabbing you through the heart with a piece of frozen wheat. And don't even get me started on the sweaty ones... soooo gross." Velvet remembered a particularly sweaty tribute from her own games who had attempted to strangle her before she gutted him with and shuddered. "Be thankful you come from District 1. Seriously. But if you're not willing to listen to me, let me know now so I don't have to waste my time." Velvet shook her head, letting out a wry chuckle. "From your slightly pretentiously-phrased question, however, I'd guess you actually care what I have to say, even if it's only a little bit and whether or not you actually listen and do what I tell you. So here you go. The honest truth? There is no way to prepare for what you may face in the Games. Oh, everyone'll have their own suggestions for that, meditation, extra training, denial, yada yada yada, but- and I'm sure this varies from person to person to it may or may not be completely true for you -none of them will do you any good. Well, maybe a little. But the only thing even close to the Games are the Games themselves, but since the Capitol would get bored by the same thing over and over again, it's doubtful you'll get that much out of the previous tapes about how to prepare. What you really want to watch for is how the tributes act in the old Games. What have they seen before, what works, what doesn't. It'll obviously be different every time, but it might help you gain an understanding or what the Games will do to you, so you can be ready for it when it happens, even though there's nothing that will prepare for it actually happening." Velvet finished and took a deep breath, having not realized she was rambling so much and being a little starved for air. "Sorry for the rant. Does that make sense?"

| "How it feels varies from person to person," Velvet began, "But it's hardest the first time. Not the killing part, the killing part is easy if you're in the moment. It's what hits you later that's the hard part. Unless you're one of those sadist kids who realizes they like it, or emotionless or something. Like I said, it varies. But the first is usually the most monumental, regardless of whether you're feeling remorse or pleasure." She sighed, brushing a strand of hair out of her face, and stared down into her drink. Nope. Velvet didn't throw it out in case she wanted it later, but she made her way over to the bar, which was run by an avox, to get something more to her taste. "I would like a vodka martini, please. Very dry with olives, a lot of olives. Like, at least three olives." The avox nodded and handed her the martini after a little while. She gave him a grateful smile. "Thanks. I'll need it." Velvet picked off an olive and popped it into her mouth. "Mm. Olives. Can't go wrong with olives. Well, you can, but that's a story for another day." She plopped back down at the table and looked around. "Hey, shouldn't there be another one of you or something, only, you know, distinctly more... male?"

| Right as Velvet spoke a mess of a young man walked through the doors of the train. Some would think him drunk or sick, but he was heartbroken. His hair was ruffled at the topped so it poked out in different places, his eyes were sunken in and he was quite pale. Yeah, he had thrown up and not slept since a couple nights ago, but come on, give the guy a break. As he sat down at the bar his whispered barely audible, "Coffee with a shot in it." That was what he felt like drowning his sorrows in coffee. But this would also be a pick-me-up for him. He was on the edge of loosing it right now but he knew he needed to pay attention for his life, for Noctavia. ((Sorry it sucks and if I got some of this wrong I'll edit XD))
