| The District 9 escort steps up on stage and smiles with blindingly white teeth. She starts speaking in a high pitched voice, "Welcome everyone to the Reapings! Today one young man and woman will be chosen to participate in the 34th Annual Hunger Games!" She steps up to the big bowls containing the names of every child in the district, from 12 to 18. Her hands hover above the bowls for a second, as if deciding something. "Now then, Ladies first!" she says, and reaches into the bowl filled with girls names... |

| ---District 9---Female---16---Anima Reaver, the 16 year old girl on the street was now in her 'finest' dress and standing in the town square. It was actually something someone gave to her, a richer man who felt bad for the poor girl and tried his best to help her out; luckily there were a few people like that. As the children all rushed past her, trying their best to hide their fears, Anima just observed. She knew she had nothing to fear. If she got reaped what was the worst that could happen? Her family grieving and crying as they watched in horror as the games went on? That her friends would fear what she may become after the games got their hold on her? No...these were not concerns for the young Anima Reaver. Her family was dead and her friends, nonexistant. It was a lonely life.
Instead of worrying Anima just made sure her hair was in order and checked in, feeling the barb hit against her finger to draw her blood and then it being pressed down against a tablet of paper. Another way for the Capitol to keep tracks on their servants after all. People parted a little as she walked over to her area, most young children were told to stay away from the girl with no parents. Not all, but most that is. She hadn't technically done anything wrong, but I guess living on the streets got people talking. That and the rumors, rumors of her father's abuse and death that hung in the air above her like a cloud. No decent parent would want their child exposed to that I guess.
Now it was time to wait patiently to hear what was going to happen. Who would be sacrificed for the greater good and to stroke the ego of the Capitol? Would it be some small child whose family cried as they were brought up? Or maybe someone generally loved by everyone in the small district? Or maybe it would be her, the girl who has nothing to lose and nothing to gain? All she could do now was wait.

| ---District 9---Female---16---"Anima Reaver"
Hearing her name didn't seem to phase her much at all. She had actually recognized it quickly as her name unlike some people they always show at the reaping recaps where they look almost dumbfounded and confused as if they had never heard their name until that one moment in time. The crowd of 16 year old females that she had been standing near parted so that she could walk through them without any obstacles and it took her only a few seconds to walk up to the stage and then took her place right at the center a little off to the right where the female tribute was always placed. Anyone watching right now would think this girl is either brave or apathetic because she showed no emotion on her face at all. There were no cries, no smiles and no shrieks of pain coming from members of the out crowd. Just silence.
The last name Avian was something people recognized, what after the death of another District 9 tribute and all. He must be a boy highly revered because no sooner was his name called that the sounds of murmurs and speaking could be heard and then that the familiar cry to volunteer came piercing through the crowd causing the first very audible sounds from the District 9 citizens the entire reapings. The boy ran up and stood at the center, introducing himself to the crowd and to all of Panem as Cyrus Bran. In Anima's mind, Cyrus must have been an idiot or had a death sentence because while he looked taller then she did he looked to be as thin as a piece of grain which this district was so known for. The two shook hands, as was customary to do when the tributes met together face to face, and Cyrus tried to make some pleasantries. But Anima just ignored his words. She did give a sweet smile though, might as well make people think she was mysterious after all, no emotions and no clue as to what exactly she was thinking while she was being filmed.
Anima could feel the hands press against her back and she walked forwards into the designated room. In the room next to her Cyrus would be waiting and probably saying all his goodbyes. His family probably cried after his sacrifice, a few of his friends were probably there to say he was coming back and of course Storm Avian was probably going to show his gratitude because he was spared for another year. Anima's room though was quiet. Very quiet and still. Her parents were dead and she had no real friends. Maybe a few of the random people who felt the need to help her would drop bye to say their goodbyes. But in the end there was nothing as the hour or so passed before going to the train. That was all that awaited Anima now, a nice train ride and at least a bed to sleep in.

| Storm was ready. Ever since his sister died, he'd been practicing ever day, in case he was called again. They'd called him at least twice in the path, but someone laid down their life every time. Storm expected his name to be called again, with the chances being cumulative. But no sooner had his name been announced, someone was volunteering. He stayed rooted to the spot, marveling at the idea that someone had saved him yet again. What was so special about him anyway? He didn't know, but he did know that he'd be rooting for the boy. | |
