| The District 7 escort steps up on stage and smiles with blindingly white teeth. She starts speaking in a high pitched voice, "Welcome everyone to the Reapings! Today one young man and woman will be chosen to participate in the 34th Annual Hunger Games!" She steps up to the big bowls containing the names of every child in the district, from 12 to 18. Her hands hover above the bowls for a second, as if deciding something. "Now then, Ladies first!" she says, and reaches into the bowl filled with girls names... |

| Errik watched the crowds of young boys and girls from his chair on the stage. He was again the mentor for district seven and he would accompany the chosen boy and girl to the capitol. It was his job to answer any questions and give them all of the necessary information needed to survive inside the arena. District seven had some very talented young people, those of whom would do well in the arena. | |

| =====Dustin Ralcom=====
Dustin heard his name called. This wasn't supposed to happen for another two years at least. He could feel everyone's eyes on him, muttering as they knew who he was. The brother of Daniel...it was only last year that he was reaped. He began to walk up, his heart pounding. He was breathing hard, ragged breaths. He got up, looking at the female tribute and looked over the crowd. He prayed that someone would volunteer for him...and little did he know, Daniel did the same for Greta last year. | |

| Preston Prescott
Preston paused for a moment when the male and female future tributes were picked. First, was the girl, that he had never met. Second, was the boy who's brother died in the games. Preston didn't think it was right that Dustin was going to be in the same position as his brother. At least, he never deserved to. Finally, Preston knew what he had to do. He raised his hand in the crowd. "Um, my name is Preston Prescott, and I volunteer for the boy" Preston yelled in front of the crowd. He was going to do his best for the boy he volunteered for. Preston wasn't going to let himself regret this. | |

| Dustin locked eyes with the boy that volunteered for him. He was ready to jump off the platform and hug him right there and then, but he stopped himself. But he couldn't let the look of relief come onto his face as he was led off of the stage. He knew he would have to visit him before he was sent to his death...to thank him for what he did. | |

| jameson ross pindale Jameson was having a pretty good reaping, until he heard a familiar voice volunteering. His green eyes wide, the boy didn't know how to react. He hadn't known Preston for that long, but he didn't want to watch his new friend die. "Preston! No!" James shouted, throwing himself out in an attempt to stop his friend.
Peacekeepers thrust him back into his section, despite his furious tries to break free. "No!" he shouted again, pain visible in his eyes. Jameson had felt enough death in his life already, and didn't want to see a nice person die, especially not one of his friends. layout and graphics (c) sapphire | |

| - Summer's Reaping Look:
I freeze as I hear a familiar name called. It was my name. I shiver as I walk up to the stage. My blonde hair flows behind me as I step onto the stage of a death trap. A boy is called, then another boy volunteers for him. I think his name is Preston. My eyes lock to the floor then up to Preston as I shake his hand. |

| Preston Prescott
Preston looked around and heard a boy screaming no, and he recognized the voice. It was Jameson’s. He looked around, trying to find him and Preston shot him a quick smile. Preston walked through the pathway they had for the reaped. He was escorted up by the Peacekeepers and walked up the stage next to his new district partner. Preston flinched every step he took up the staircase of about four steps. He finally walked onto the stage next to his district partner. Preston smiled as the girl offered to shake his hand. He finally decided that it would be worth trying to get friends, so Preston shook her hand. ”Good luck, and keep in mind, I’m not going easy.” Preston told the girl, releasing his hand from her grip. Preston looked at the crowd of people, which he’d miss. He looked around, trying to find people he had to remember, and he found Jameson, and Greta. Preston smiled, he was going to do his best to keep himself alive. Preston gulped, and looked back to his district partner, whose name was Summer. | |

| Greta stood there and she hated reaping days, nothing good ever came out of them. She fixed her clothing a bit. She sighed and she stood in her section, and she knew Peppermint was in the group somewhere and then James and Kal were in the guys section. Greta sighed a bit more and then eventually once they got down to it, she heard the names called it made her frozen in place. Dustin, the little brother of Daniel was there, she was supposed to protect him, he wasn't supposed to go in. Greta held back her emotions and then finally she just looked down, but she had heard someone volunteer and her head snapped up and she heard it was Preston. She felt like she couldn't speak. No, not again.. she thought to herself. She makes a friend and they just get reaped. Maybe she shouldn't make friends because they just get sent off to a death match. Greta began to sob as she stood there. "Preston don't" She said softly, and then she burst out of the crowd, "No you can't do this!" She screamed at them, "You can't!" and she broke down crying still, she didn't like losing friends, she seemed to be losing everyone lately, and all this just brought back memories of last year when she was reaped, and the tears just came down more, "You can't, you just can't." | |

| Preston looked at the crowd of people. Most looked relieved, but some, the people who were friends of the tributes, looked upset. He couldn’t blame them, who wouldn’t be sad about their friend riding the detour to death. He looked at Greta, who was screaming, and all he could do was mouth her a few words. I have to. Preston smiled at all the people. Preston then looked over at his district partner, hoping she wasn’t scared. He looked down at the ground. One of Twenty-four people get out of there alive, and if you’re lucky, it’ll be you. Preston started to think that his district partner would be dead for him to live, which wasn’t fair to him. Preston nodded at the girl, and then looked back towards the crowd he knows as his friends, family, and even random people. Then, he said some words to them. ”Wish us luck?” Preston then saluted them. He didn’t plan on volunteering for anyone, but he couldn’t bear to see young children die, even though there would be a few tributes that are younger. Preston looked at Greta and Jameson, for maybe the last time, and nodded. | |

| ---District 7---Male---16---Kalvin Hollis went into the reapings as he always did, dressed nicely and quietly. He left his family behind as he alone stepped forward to the area where all the eligible youths would be placed. He was placed in the 16 year old section and looked across from him to see his two best friends Pepper and Greta. He smiled a little at them, but it was hard to tell if they could see him or not behind all the chaos of the other kids being herded in around them. Soon enough his comfortable little space was taken away as he was being pushed shoulder to shoulder with a few other guys who also were put into the 16 year old section. In moments like this Kal wondered if District 7 was overcrowded or something because it seemed like there was always no space in the male section in front of the Justice building. But somehow they all got them in there, space or no space it was always done. Now all that needed to happen was the calling of the names and then to hopefully go back to life as normal.
The names were read and the female name was unfamiliar to him. Which was good in his mind, that meant his two best friends weren't reaped and he didn't know what he would do if they ever were. They were the only friends he really had and it wasn't likely that he would make a ton more friends if they did die. His existence would be a lonely one without those two there. Then the male name was pulled and that was where the drama began. The name belonged to the last tribute's younger brother, a boy who Kal had briefly passed one late night getting medicine for Micky. They didn't speak at all, but still, it was a name that was recognizable for him; one that resonated in him a little bit. Before the young boy could reach the stage though another boy in front of him stepped out to the aisle and raised his hand, volunteering for the original tribute. A bold move, and probably a very stupid one because in the end the chances of dying were far higher then coming home. These were odds that Kal didn't want to think about.
This was not the part that Kal cared about at all, volunteering happened here every so often. It happened last year when Greta was reaped after all. But Greta then pushed her way forwards to the crowd, breaking down and sobbing. Kal knew this was the way their world worked, and he could stay emotionless as the tributes were taken away, but to see Greta show such emotion stirred something inside him. He pushed his way through the boys who had been standing close by him, even letting out a few "excuse me" and "pardon me" slip from his mouth. Kal wrapped Greta in a hug, he knew that things had been rough for her and she was always one to make friends. While Kal didn't know this boy from Adam he was obviously a friend of Greta's and loosing your friends was always rough. "It's ok Greta, it's ok. He will make it back I'm sure. You have to calm down." Kalvin's voice was soothing as he spoke quietly and tried his best to make his best friend feel better, though he wasn't sure how well he had done. Words were never something Kal had a lot of talent with.

| Preston shakes my hand in return and tells me he won't be going easy. I narrow my eyes at him furiously. "You better not play easy. I loose the advantage being the strong one." I knew someone would have to make an alliance with me. After they see me train, well who wouldn't want me as their life source in the Arena? I look out to the crowd of the kids from 12-18 in District 7. I wave flirtatiously to them and blow them a kiss. I was not going to loose this Game. "Not today..." I whisper to myself. |
