Daniel walked over to the melee station. He picked up a weapon he was the least unfamiliar with. A sword, which was also easy to use. He listened as the trainer taught him and showed him basic moves. He easily performed the moves the trainer showed him. Eventually, the trainer was teaching him advanced moves he could barely keep up with. But he still did. The trainer told him to start just hacking at the dummies. He was basically slicing the dummies one at a time, then coming back to them two seconds later to stab it...after slicing two others.

Seb made his way over to the Melee station. After all, he needed to learn how to fight, right? By the time he got over there he saw someone else was there already. He couldn't remember his name, but he knew the tribute was from District 7. Seb stood back and watched for a moment. He went of hacking at the dummies, and Seb decided it'd be smart to do the same thing. After testing out a few swords he found one that suited him. "Should I do the same thing as him, or-?" Seb began, though he was quickly cut off when the instructor nodded and pointed over to the straw dummies without saying a word. Seb shrugged and made his way to the dummies that hadn't been decapitated yet. After a few stabs he sliced off the dummy's arm.

Frank made his way around the training gym looking at all the stations. He had no idea where to start, really. He stopped at the melee section, being able to defend himself would be important, no? He walked over to the people training there, seeing a younger guy. He stopped to watch the kid practice for a moment as he sliced at the dummies, then moved on and grabbed a sword. "Hmm" he uttered quietly, picking a dummy and practicing attacks on it with a few hacks and slashes.

I step into the Training center with as much confidence as if I was a Gamemaker myself, though I am quite late. Apparently my escort didn't care about a lowly tribute from district Ten. Ignoring my district partner, who's also arriving late, I go directly to the melee station, bypassing medical, food, and survival stations, as I'm already confident in my mother's teachings and I'll brush up later when I have time.

The Melee station is a little more crowded than I would have liked, but I have to work on close-combat fighting. I pull a long, curved sword from the rack and test the weight. I've seen them in other Games and I've tried making a few of my own, but now I see I've gotten the balance wrong, as the weapon tilts a different way than I'm used to. I shift my grip and readjust, getting a better feel for the weapon already. The trainer, who was looking concerned for a moment, nods as I right myself, and I take this to mean I've got it correct. I approach an unclaimed set of dummies and start hacking in a way I've seen them on the Games before. I only landed a few hits, all in non-vital areas, but it didn't phase me, even after seeing a boy nearby slice an arm clean off. I nod to him, as a bit of recognition or what, I don't know, and step back into my targets and strike again, this time cutting off a few hands and ears.

As I back away to inspect my handiwork, I notice another boy hacking away. I soon realize both of these guys seem to know at least a little bit about what they're doing, so I take a moment to watch, but try not to act like I'm actually watching them.

Daniel smiled and walked over and put the sword away. He grabbed an axe and balanced it. He smiled and went over to a dummy and he sliced at the chest of it. The cut was shallow, but he brought the axe back in a much more powerful swing, cutting the dummy's head off. He inspected the cut, noticing it was very shallow and precise. He smiled to himself and muttered, "That's how you kill an inanimate dummy..."

When Seb turned around two other tributes had arrived. One stood back and observed while the other picked up a sword and too began hacking away. Seb noticed a pattern between them, and decided it was time to move on. He nodded to the observing tribute and put his sword back on the rack before moving to another station.

I only get to observe for a moment before one of them leaves. Oh well I think and step back up to my dummies. Using a few techniques I saw, I manage to cut the arms and head off of one before hacking the skulls of another two in half, finally adjusted to the weapon in my grasp. I hack a little bit more, trying to show I can hold my own with these people, before stepping back and looking at what I've done. I can't help but smile, seeing how well I've disposed of the inanimate objects in front of me.
Satisfied with my work for now, I turn away. Just as I'm placing the sword back on its rack, my stomach tells me it's time to eat. lunch it is, then I think before heading to my next destination.
