The District 9 escort steps up on stage and smiles with blindingly white teeth. She starts speaking in a high pitched voice, "Welcome everyone to the Reapings! Today one young man and woman will be chosen to participate in the 33rd Annual Hunger Games!" She steps up to the big bowls containing the names of every child in the district, from 12 to 18. Her hands hover above the bowls for a second, as if deciding something. "Now then, Ladies first!" she says, and reaches into the bowl filled with girls names...

Fio relaxed her shoulders as she bit her lower lip, waiting around the girls already lined up, waiting for everyone else. She couldn't help but worry over her little siblings, being here instead of with them. But it made her feel a little better knowing that Emilea didn't have to work since well, it's the Reapings. And she'd stay with them. Fio didn't need any 'family' around here today. It's redundant when they could be doing something much better. The worst that she could think of is that... She got picked and never even got to say goodbye to anyone she cared and loved. Fio slightly shook her head to herself, refusing to even think about it. She won't get picked. She can't. She still had a lot to do, to pay back Emilea, to take care of her siblings, to... was there really anymore to her life? Fio probably lived in a life of debt, and taking her hard earned life away now would void all that she had done to pay for it. She glanced around the faces of others, all looking the same, but Fio knew inside they had a few ugly thoughts. Everyone did. Even her. She cringed at the voice over the mic, as the Capitol lady announced for the ladies. That bowl was going to decide the end of someone's life. It was disgusting to even think about it.

She dug her hand into the bowl and pulled out the female tribute's name, "Fio Legeia " She called out and then she dug into the male's bowl. "Marty Facti"

Nixon walked into the reaping area and was not the least bit scared. Most people were afraid of death, but not Nixon. Of course, he didn't want to die, but he would welcome it when the time came. Nixon believed that everything happens for a reason, so if he were to die there would be some reason to it.

After checking in, Nixon made his way over to the male section for 17 year olds. As he walked he said a couple of hellos to people he knew or was friends with. Once he got over, he waited patiently for the names to be called. "Fio Legeia" The district 9 escort called. Then, it was time for the boy to be chosen. Nixon watched the escort's hand as she reached into the bowl and pulled out a thin slip of paper. Any boy in the district. It could be anybody. "Marty Facti" Nixon froze. Marty was one of Nixon's best friend, and he had known him for years. Death to himself was okay for Nixon, but having to watch Marty, one of his best friends, would be just too much to bear. Before Marty could even walk up, Nixon stepped out of line. "I volunteer as tribute." Everybody turned to look at Nixon. He walked up onto the stage where the female tribute and the escort were. "My name is Nixon Harley, I'm 17 years old." He said to the crowd. Everybody was silent. Everything happens for a reason Nixon. Everything.
