Stella's stomach hadn't settled sense her name out of hundreds was chosen. People stared at her until she was brought into the back rooms of the Justice Buildings for her good-bye's. Martin was there. Stella cried when she saw him. She made him keep their cove a secret. Stella's mother, surprisingly, showed up too. She had told Stella to win her one of the nice houses in the Victor's Village. Stella wasn't surprised, but nodded along and didn't say anything.
Stella was almost relieved when she was taken to the trains. Relieved and terrified.
She sat in the main car, unsure of what to expect next. She swung her legs in the air trying to take deep breaths to calm herself down. She could do this. She'd trained for it before. Why was she so nervous?
Stella looked around for something to eat to calm her stomach. There were multi-colored bottles that reminded her of the colored bottles her mother sometimes brought home after her 'bingo' games. She moved onto something else, and settled for a bottle of water and a muffin and sat back down, waiting for her mentor.
