Solstice had wandered through the arena until she had found her way back into the darker parts of it, she needed to know what was around in these parts, she just had to. Solstice soon pulled out her torch that had not been lit yet. She then reached into her back and took a bite of apple and then sent it back. Solstice grabbed the flint she had and one of her knives and she tried to get a spark going that'd ignite her cloth that was on the stick to make any form of light to see.

Sparks flew from the flint and lit up the torch, and suddenly it wasn't quite so dark around the tribute.

Solstice watched as sparks flew and then her torch had lit and a big smile played over her face, she wasn't completely useless after all. Solstice zipped up her bag and slipped it on. She held the torch in one hand and a knife in the other. Solstice stood up and looked around, it was much easier to see with a torch. Soon she began to walk around and look about to see if there was anything around, maybe there would be something, there had to be a reason why this area was dark, it could be good or it could be bad, she didn't have a clue but maybe, just maybe she'd find out.

Strange noises were audible along with the sound of rain. The rain got louder, and the tribute realized that she was now on a rock surface and not grass.

Solstice took note of where she was and she decided to follow the rocky part to see if it led anywhere. She didn't know what to do in the games, she didn't even know where any tributes were for that matter. Solstice wasn't really focused on that though, she was thinking of home, she imagined the whole district just went on as they normally did after she left, she wasn't much of a loss to them, maybe to her mother and a select you few but they'd be fine with out her, and hey being in the games was a once in a life time experience.

Solstice watched as the area turned into flat stone, that was a bit unusual in her mind so she held her torch that was still giving her light. Soon enough Solstice just continued on her little way searching for anything that might be different, the flat stone already made her curious and maybe it led to something but she'd have to keep following to see what it was.

Solstice thought for a moment before taking one of her apples out and finishing it off. She ate most of it until she got to the core and then she dropped it down the drop off to listen for a sound to get a rough idea how deep it was.

The apple core dropped for about two seconds before making a noise as it hit the bottom. Though it was dark, the flash of lightning lit up the area for a brief second.

Solstice heard her apple core drop very shortly after she dropped it, it could be a bit of a fall but perhaps not one that would kill her. She then saw the lightning flash up the place and she frantically searched around to try and take in as much sight about the drop off and down bellow as possible before she were to go down there.

Solstice shrugged her shoulders. What more did she have to lose anyway, worst thing that would happen would be she died, but in these whole games the worst thing that could ever happen is you die. Either way only 1 person lives and well she'd take chances. Solstice sat on the edge of the drop off and slowly pushed herself off and then she was falling and wasn't sure what to expect next.

The tribute landed on her heels and slipped down, landing on her tailbone. It stung a bit, but she was fine otherwise.

Solstice was glad she just wasn't hurt even more, but slipping on her tailbone wasn't exactly painless either. Solstice got up and she grabbed one of her knives while still holding the torch to see some things in front of her, she was wondering what was down here, or if anything was down her at all, probably a mutt knowing the games and knowing that there was probably no way out of here really, but hey it wasn't like other tributes came to find her or anything.

Solstice clutched her knife tighter and she looked up and around. She was tying to decide whether to ignore it or not to. She tossed it around in her head a bit and then decided that it was probably nothing, not like she could get back up there and check it out anyway. Solstice decided to turn into a different direction because going straight just wasn't working out too well for her anyway.

Solstice sighed and continued walking but decided to stop. She turned around and she squinted her eyes a bit to try and figure out where the sound was coming from. Her eyes kept scanning the area searching and keeping on guard. Solstice made sure her bag was zipped up and decided to keep hold of her knife and to keep her senses alert. She'd stand till for the moment.

A four legged figure was in view, its front legs seemed to be similar to blades, but the darkness made it hard to tell, the creature made a sniffing noise, its head swiveling.

Solstice stared at the thing in front of her. She didn't know whether it was the fact she couldn't see much of the creature or the fact that she knew this was something the gamemakers designed, that she wasn't scared. Perhaps a bit of both. Solstice kept hold of her torch and quickly looked for a place it could be without burning out while still holding her knife in the other hand and keeping a watch on the new threat to the area.

The mutt sniffed around more, and froze. It must have picked up the tribute's scent.

Solstice watched the movements on the creature and then when it paused she didn't make any sudden movements and she continued to watch it. Who would make the first attack she'd assume that it would and not her, she was almost curious to know if it was just designed to kill or not to. She assumed it may seem curious at first then it'd just be on your ass right away. Solstice wasn't here to make friends or befriend a mutt, it was survival of the fittest, you killed it or it killed you, there was no mercy. Solstice still wouldn't let go of her knife or drop her defense.

The mutt continued to sniff around. It stopped moving for a moment. A silent tension overcame the area for the tribute before the monster let out a shrill screech and swung at her with one of its scimitar-like front legs.

While watching the creatures every move she soon watched as it came around to attack her and she tried to duck out of the way and then got back up soon to get in a better stance. She held her knife and loosened her grip a bit to get better comfort. She then went in a swipe and tried to get a hit on the creature.
