Atom Crooper Interview

I took a deep breath and fixed the sleeve of my stiff silver tuxedo before walking on to the stage. The lights were bright and blinding and the roar of the crowd was so loud that it had me shaking. I knew this was important. My training score hadn't been as high as I'd hoped for, so I would need to nail this interview if I wanted a shot at some sponsors. I could do this. I pasted a smile on my face and shook Caesar's hand before sitting down. "Was this guy for real?" I thought as I took in his flashy attire and obviously dyed hair. But I did my best to look bright and happy, not like I was a day from possibly facing my death.

I let out a shaky laugh as I shook his hand. "I think I've eaten too much at this point. I might have to waddle through the arena tomorrow." I laughed, rubbing my stomach. All I had to do was play the crowd. I'd pretend that Caesar was just one of my sisters, giggling and clapping her hands as she listened to my ridiculous stories.

"It would certainly be a good laugh though, don't you think?" I chuckled. "Nah, I'll make sure to bring as much action as possible for you folks. What kind of a video game designer would I be, if I didn't?"

I pondered that for a moment. "Well, all I'll say is that I'm going to treat this like one of my video games. I have tactics and plans and just see everything in that military perspective. My mentor and I have some tricks up our sleeves, that's for sure." I grinned, trying to leave out the fact that I would be hunting and trapping the other tributes. That didn't seem like such a friendly conversation topic.

"All I can say is that I'm doing this for my sisters. They've already lost so much. They don't have a mother or father and the only person left for me is them. And if I'm gone..." I couldn't finish the statement. I wiped the lone tear off of my cheek and tried to look at Caesar as I answered the question. I hoped that my sisters couldn't see me now. I had to be strong for them. "I want them to just have hope. To think that I stand a chance out there in the arena. I'm going to try my best to win for them, but I want them to know that there are people out there rooting for me and supporting me." I finished, looking down at the floor.

"My parents of course. I wouldn't be here without them, and without my dad, I'd be useless with my knife. And the capitol, especially. After I lost my parents two years ago, it's the capitol who allows me to design my games and help support me and my family. So this if for you! The people of the capitol!" I smiled

I smiled at the loud cheers of the crowd. Maybe I did have a chance. With my mentor's advice, my game skills and maybe a few sponsors, I could do this. "That's the plan, Caesar!" I said, starting to get braver. "The capitol? It's great. I mean, have you tasted the food? Delicious. And I swear my bed was hand crafted from a cloud." I reached up and ran my fingers through my hair. "My hair's never looked this good either."

"It seems like a very competitive group, that's for sure. I'm sure the you folks will be quite entertained."
