Dove sighed, as her oldest brother, Erik left her home. He was making his weekly visit to his younger siblings, making sure that they were all okay. It was also time for the weekly fight between Erik and David. This week, they were arguing about the usual-how David doesn't take things litterally and that Erik takes things to litterally. Dove could see it both sides.
Luckly, Dove's sister, Eliza had been home, so the fight wasn't as bad as it coud have been.
"They'll never learn, will they, Eliza?" Dove asked her sister, who shook her head in responce. Then, she saw a familiar face coming up the hill. "Oh, hey Fern!" Dove said, smiling.

I had been walking homw from the orchards after a very brutal day.

A small child had been killed because she had tried to eat some of the fruit. I had watched every minute, knowing much worse deaths, but it still sent shivers through my spine.

I was clutching my small bag of coins I had gotten for that days work. I was covered in sweat, it had been a very hot day. Some hair on my forehead was plastered with sweat, and I tucked it behind my ears.

I saw Dove, and she greeted me warmly. A bright smile crossed my face. It was good to finally have a friend.

But she didn't know that I came from the Capitol.

"Hey Dove!" I yelled, running over to her. "How's Jasmine?"

"It'd be nice if the world was peaceful, to bad that it's not."

"Hey, how about you come inside? I'll get you a drink." Dove's sister, Eliza said. "Yea, you look like you could use it."

I smiled sheepishly. I knew I should refuse, but I was really thirsty. "That's good that she's safe. And, yeah, I'd love a drink!" I said with a side smile.

I walked inside, and sat down, glad to give my feet a rest. My hands were a bit raw from climbing trees, and picking fruits, so I rubbed them together, trying to rub away the blisters that should form, but wouldn't.

Dove got a glass, and filled it with water. She went over to Fern, and gave it to her. "Here you go." She said. Her sister, Eliza was giving Fern strange looks. Dove had known that Fern didn't look like she was around here. After all, most people had dark skin and hair. But, Fern had fair skin and blonde hair. She knew it wasn't polite to point things like this out, so she just left it. Dove gave her sister an evil glance, to say You had better not say anything or I'll ring your neck.

"Thanks!" I said brightly, letting part of my old Capitol accent barge in. It was only a little bit, but you could hear it clearly. darn it, I thought. I hid my blush my drinking the water gratefully. I hoped they wouldn't notice.

But I was sure they would.

Eliza pointed her head at Fern. Dove knew that Fern was diffrent, but didn't say anything. She went over to Eliza. "Shut, up!" Dove whisperd in her ear.
"Here, let me get you something to eat."

Dove came back with a sandwich. "Here you go! Hope you like it. I'm not the best of cooks..." Dove said, sighing. She looked back at her sister. "Shouldn't you be back at work? You've probably gone way over your lunch break." Dove didn't want her sister to get in more trouble than she already was going to get in. Eliza sighed, and left the house, taking a glance back at Fern.

I took the sandwich gratefully, and took a bite. "Better than teh stuff I have at home," I said, taking anotehr bite. When I swallowed, I looked at Dove. "I take it your sister doesn't like me too much," I say.
