Norman had made it back home, with an unwanted guest. With Autumn laid up in the living room, leg propped up and knocked out, Norman focused his efforts in the kitchen. It had been a day that she had been laid on his couch, him sleeping peacefully in his bedroom. A bottle of whiskey sat beside the stove as Norman fried up ham and eggs. A fresh loaf of bread sat on the table, bought this morning, with an end cut off. Part of that end entered Norman's mouth as he stood over the stove. Setting the piece down, he focused on the food cooking in front of him. There was enough for Autumn and himself to eat, should she ever awake. Taking a swig fromt he bottle, Norman glanced back to the living room. From what he could tell, Autumn was still as he had left her last night... propped on his couch. Turning back to the stove, he stared out the window above it for a moment, as the morning light hit him. Picking up the piece of bread, he took another bite from it and set about finishing cooking the ham and eggs.

Autumn woke to the smell of food and a severe headache. "Mooom, you know ham isn't good for our-" She stopped as she opened her eyes. That wasn't her ceiling, or at least it didn't look like it as she squinted at the harsh morning light. But she at least knew she wasn't in her own bed. The girl tried to roll out of whatever she'd been sleeping on, but the pain in her ankle stopped her. Autumn's eyes snapped fully awake, finally taking in everything around her. She was on a couch in a house with huge everything... from the ceilings to the windows and doorways and the cook in the kitchen... wait. "Norman?!" She stared in shock for a moment before her expression darkened. Why the hell was she in his house? She glared at him... was he... cooking? Autumn didn't know what to think. "What the hell is going on here?"

Norman heard a bit of commotion coming from the living room. "Great... she's awake," he thought to himself. Finishing cooking the food, Norman split it among two plates. Setting the pans on the counter, Norman cut a slice of bread for both of the plates and placed the bread onto the counter as well. Sighing, he brushed off the front of his shirt and turned to the counter. Capping the whiskey, he placed it up into a cabinet and picked up the plates. Hearing her question, Norman let a small chuckle out. Making his way into the living room, he smiled at her, setting the plates onto a coffee table in front of the couch. "Well good morning to you too," he said sarcastically. Walking to the end of the couch, he placed his arms under hers a pulled her into a sitting position, placing a pillow behind her for a bit of support. "Let's see. You started off by harassing me a bit yesterday. Which turned to you kissing my cheek. Which in turn turned to me walking off, you following. And that led to the climatic end where you sprained your ankle, forcing me to carry you here while you passed out in my arms on the way," Norman said, every once of sarcasm filling the words. Sassiness was returning to him. "It was the most romantic thing," he said, holding one of the plates out to her. Taking his own plate, he sat on a smaller couch that catty-cornered with the one Autumn was on. Looking at her, he smiled. "And that all led to me being here, with you on my couch. And me, being the nice guy I am, cooking you breakfast. Unless you want to harass that too," he said, taking a bite of his eggs and looking out the window.

Autumn just stared at him blankly as he "explained." "What. The. Fuck," she finally said, taking the plate from him. But it was coming back to her, now that her head didn't hurt as bad. Shit, why had she drunk that much? She grumbled a bit more, glaring at the ham on her plate. "Nice, sure. You're feeding me ham." Her stomach already felt like it'd been flipped upside down, the meat would only make it worse. She nudged it a bit with her fork, then realized there was bread there too. A faint smile touched her lips and she practically inhaled it, only to stop when she realized he was probably watching her. She glanced at him, swallowing the bread and dropping her smile. "What possessed you to help me out? Because I know that can't be Norman Rowe in there. Unless this is a cover for a kidnapping."

Turning back to Autumn, Norman nodded. "My thoughts exactly," he agreed to her 'what the fuck.' Unable to hold it back, Norman chuckled. "Didn't know you couldn't have ham sweetheart," he said, taking another bite of eggs. Setting his plate on the coffee table, he grabbed his bread, stood up, and walked to her. Taking the two slices of ham from her plate, he laid the bread down in its place, and returned to his seat. "Trust me, princess, I didn't want to help you. And trust me as well, I am most assuredly Norman Rowe in here. I couldn't leave you there, though. I let you drink what I had after you took it, so it's a bit my own fault that you wound up in that shape," he said, a small chuckle following. Setting the ham on his plate, he returned to the kitchen and grabbed a glass. "Want some water?" he asked, filling a couple of glasses with. He returned to the living room, glasses of water in hand, and sat back down. He slid one down to her and took a drink from his. "Not a kidnapping, either, you ain't that lucky and ain't that much of a kid," he said, placing a slice of ham in his mouth.

She winced at the name sweetheart. Where'd he gotten that from? But there was more bread on her plate. Maybe that was okay. She took the water without a word, just a nod, and took a few sips. "Well, whatever you call it, I didn't ask you to take me to your house. You could've left me in the dirt. After all, that's what you're good at, isn't it?" The words came out harsh, and she punctuated them with the consumption of more bread. But then she glanced at him again, and her eyes softened a bit. "But... thanks, I guess?"

Sighing, Norman shook his head. Looking up at Autumn, he glared. "No, you didn't ask me to bring you here. However, seeing as I didn't even know your name until yesterday, I had not idea ever where you lived," he said, taking another drink of water. "You're right, I could've left you there, and I should've," he said, "However, there was a reason I didn't." Slowing down, he took another bite of ham and eggs, leaving a silence to fill the room momentarily. Finishing, he nodded. "I didn't leave you there for one reason," he said, ignoring her comment. "And I quote... 'Oh Normie, you're not gonna leave a lady like this, are ya?' " he said, grimacing at the words. "I may be a killer, but I'm a gentleman first," he said, taking another bite of food, which was dwindling on his plate. "You're welcome to stay here until your ankle is better, but if you don't want to, I'll take you home," he said, finishing his foot. Draining his glass, he stood and carried his plate to the kitchen. Returning, he attempted to smile, and sat back down until she was finished.

Autumn's face seemed to be etched in a permanent scowl. "I'm surprised you think of my as a lady," She said, the scorn apparent in her voice. Normie? How the fuck did she come up with Normie? Her mouth continued to work on her meal as her eyes followed his every movement. When she was finished, she set the plate down, and returned his smile with a mocking version. "Well, nice chat, but I can get home myself," she told him, getting to her feet as she did so. No way was she going to let him carry her home, nor was she going to stay here. At least, that's what she told herself as she fought the pain it took to make it out of the huge ass house. But then there were steps down the porch, and even though she tried to make it, she ended up falling again. The ankle pain flared up again and she could hardly move, so she just moved her head so she could see if Norman showed up.

Ignoring Autumn's comment, Norman took her plate as she attempted to stand and leave. Taking her plate and glass to the kitchen, Norman set them on the counter and watched her attempt to leave, following her when she made it out the front door. Leaning against the door frame, he watched her attempt to conquer the stairs down. "This isn't your best choice, now is it?" he asked as she started down. Beginning to close the door, Norman watched as she feel. Walking out, Norman made his way down the steps. "This is why I offered to help," he told her as he began to pick her up. One arm behind her shoulders and the other under her knees, Norman carried Autumn back up the steps and over the threshold of the house. "Don't think you'll be leaving here anytime soon," he said, "Sorry,"

Autumn uttered a few jumbled protests as Norman started to pick her up, but once she was fully in his arms, she closed her mouth. Her head hung back a bit, making her a bit nauseous. Autumn crossed her arms and lifted her head up, trying to glare at him as he carried her. "You're doing a suck-ass job of convincing me this isn't a kidnapping," she said, ignoring his 'apology'. "But if you plan to pretend that this isn't what it seems like, you're going to have to get me some booze. Your best stuff. You'll spare it for a lady won't you?"

Norman rolled his eyes as he kicked the door closed behind him. "I'm not trying to convince you it's not, I'm telling you it is," he said, climbing the stairs to the second story of the house. Turning around the bannister, Norman walked to an open room at the end of the hall. Carrying her in, Norman walked to the bed. Setting her down on it, he turned around and walked out of the room and back down the stairs. Entering the kitchen, Norman took his alcohol from the cabinet and set it on the counter. Getting a larger glass, he placed it beside the bottle and moved to knock a bit of ice from a block. Placing that in the glass, he filled the rest up with alcohol and turned. "Not going to be my smartest idea," he muttered to himself, " 'cause that's how we got in this situation." Picking up the bottle, he took a drink from it and set it on the coffee table in the living room. Carrying the glass upstairs, he stopped to look into his room, which was at the top of the stairs. Kicking off his shoes, he pulled the door closed behind him and returned to what was, for now, Autumn's room. "This good enough for you, princess?" he asked, setting the glass on a bedside table. Stepping back, Norman shrugged. "With your ankle, you likely won't end up leaving here, on your own, for a little bit," he said, stepping to the door.

Autumn continued to glare at him, ignoring the fact that they were going up a flight of stairs. It was fine, wasn't it? She couldn't even see how far down the- Autumn stopped herself, biting the inside of her cheek. More glaring as he set her down. He came back, she was still glaring. More hurt that she couldn't do anything on her own, but Norman didn't need to know that. She took the glass, inspected it, took a sip. "Satisfactory, servant," she said. She knocked back a bit more before she responded, "Only because you carried me up stairs. Hard enough already to get out of this place. You sure you didn't just purposely twist my ankle for your own amusement?"

Norman let out a small chuckle. "I figured you'd rather be as far away from me as possible," he said. Turning to face the door, Norman muttered over his shoulder. "You wouldn't be that lucky," he chuckled. "Holler if you need anything." Pulling the door almost closed behind him, Norman made his way back downstairs. Grabbing the bottle he left on the table, Norman plopped onto the couch. Taking a drink from the bottle, he sighed and smiled. Laying his head back on the couch, Norman stared at the ceiling, content for the moment. It wasn't even noon yet, but he felt like a nap. Deno crawled on the back of the couch, staring at Norman. Taking another drink from the bottle, Norman let his eyes droop a bit. Having Autumn in the house was going to be the death of him.

Up, up, up, climbing a tree. Aspen was just ahead of her, like she always was. Autumn's head faced towards the sky, not daring to look down at the distance to the ground. They kept going, but the branches got smaller and smaller, until Autumn heard a snap beneath her hands. Up, far above her, Aspen continued on, only a silhouette against the sun hanging above her head. And then Autumn was falling, her body twisting around to face the ground. It was the highest she'd ever been, and all she could do was scream until everything went black.

Autumn woke with a start, breathing heavily at the ending of her dream. It took her a moment to realize she hadn't fallen from anywhere big, the pain in her ankle wasn't as bad as it could be. And she was safe...in one of the bedrooms in Norman's house. Maybe not so safe. "N...Norman?" she called hesitantly. Had she screamed out loud? She hadn't heard any movement yet, so maybe not. She wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. "Yo Normie, I need somethin' to drink," She called, a bit louder as she entered the hallway, having gotten out of the bed. Still no response, so she stumbled around into the various rooms, looking for him.

Norman had been slightly aware that he had fallen asleep. His dream had taken him back to the arena... the final fight between himself and Leda. He was able to sleep through it, but something else awoke him. A woman's scream. Jolting awake, Norman stared around the darkened living room. The bottle of alcohol he had before he fell asleep was leaning against his side. Grabbing it, he recapped it and placed it on the table. He heard someone say his name. Standing from the couch, he wondered to the foyer, listening. The voice was coming from upstairs. "Oh yea... Autumn is here," he thought to himself. Entering the kitchen, he grabbed a glass and filled it with water. She had mentioned something to drink, so that was what she was getting. Making his way upstairs, he checked her room first, which was now empty. Eyebrow raised, he checked his room next. The door was still closed, but no one was inside. Closing the door behind him, he began checking the other rooms until he found her.

Autumn hadn't found the real Norman, but she'd found something better. Baby Norman. Or at least that's what she assumed, because when he walked in, the baby's face looked just like his. Except babier. "Well look who finally showed up. Couldn't find your time machine?" she asked, holding her gaze on him for a moment before looking back down at the pictures in the photo album. "What happened in these nineteen years, old man? I bet you were tolerable back then."

Well, he found her. Though, Norman did not like where he found Autumn at. "What the hell...?" he asked when he found her in the unused office area. Noticing what was in her hands, Norman almost dropped the glass. "What are you doing with that?" he said, setting the glass on a nearby table. Reaching out, he attempted to grab the book from her. "The Games happened in those nineteen years, if you must know, young punk," he said, emphasizing the last two words. "I'm tolerable to you if you are tolerable to me," he said, in an attempt to punctuate the aggravation.

Autumn smiled innocently at Norman, "Shouldn't leave stuff out if you don't want people finding it." She pulled back on the little book, refusing to let it go as she spotted a toddler Norman sitting in a treehouse only a few feet from the ground. Adorable. "I meant your face, moron. Usually, guys who have a violent history are so much more... handsome," The tone changed a bit at the last word, as she looked at him, but then her expression hardened a bit and she shook that feeling from her mind. "Well, since I'm not exactly determined to slit your throat right now, I guess I'm failing at my job. Do you want me to send you on endless errands?"

Norman let go of the book and shook his head. "Thanks," he said. Reaching for the glass, he took it from the desk and handed it to her. "You already have been. I woke up to your screaming," he said. Staring around the office area, there were nothing but books; some picture albums, other just normal books. "Why did you even start wandering around? Why didn't you just wait for me to come up?" he asked, making another grab at the book. "I knew I shoulda left her laying on the ground," he thought to himself.

Water. Autumn frowned as she swallowed the contents of the glass. "Not what I meant by a drink," she set the glass down beside her and flipped through the album some more. "Not sure if you're holding up your end of the bargain then." He was reaching for the book again, so she hopped to her feet and shuffled away from him. "Well, you weren't being a very fast slave, so I thought I'd find you. Guess it worked a little bit. Are you aware your parents dressed you with all the fashion of nothing? So tacky."

Norman shook his head. "I'm holding up my end of the bargain just fine. Otherwise, you'd still be lying in the street, need I remind you," he said, stepping closer. "I have no need to be fast in my own home," he said, lurching forward to place a hand on the wall, blocking her from the door. "Yea, they dressed me in all their fancy shit," he began, "That's the reason I left." Reaching out, he placed a hand on the book, ready to pull it from her hands. "This is my stuff, last time I checked. You want a drink, let's go downstairs," he said, pulling on the book.

"You really are mean, you know that?" Autumn said, stopping just short of the arm blocking her exit. She glared at him, taking her eyes off the book just long enough for him to get a firm hold on it. Autumn didn't know why she fought to keep it; probably just because it annoyed the fuck out of him. Either way, the photo album ended up on the floor, flipped to a page with baby Norman and his family. Autumn immediately crouched down before Norman took it away. They were all smiles and happy. And Norman's sense of style had improved a bit. "Why did you leave, really?"

Bending over, Norman grabbed the book. Autumn had already gotten a look at the picture. Tossing the book onto the desk, he shook his head. "I never left, not completely. I still lived in their house until I could afford a place of my own, he said, leaning against the door frame, "But I wouldn't let them support me. I let them keep a roof over my head and bare necessities on food, but nothing more. Norman sighed and shrugged, she didn't need to know this, but he couldn't stop. "I never wanted the cushy ride through life. I wanted to work and do something that I could claim as my own," he laughed, "And I've done that, but now sit in the cushy life." He laughed again, turning to leave the room. "You hungry?" he said, making his way for the stairs. He waited at the top of them, in case she needed help.

Autumn frowned as he tossed the book away, but she let it go; she'd seen enough of baby Norman. For now. For a bit after he'd explained, she just stared at him, until finally only a few words came out. "I can respect that." Because she could, at least the working for himself part; after all, wasn't that what her parents had pounded into her head so often? She hobbled after Norman, glaring at the stairs. "Very," She replied to him, then started down, only to loose her balance after a few steps and ending up hanging on the railing. "Goddamnit," she cursed, trying to get her feet under her, but to no avail; she was stretched out to much to stand up straight without help.

Norman stayed behind her as she attempted to descend on the stairs. He watched her stumble and wind up clinging to the railing. Norman made his way to the steps she was on. Wrapping an arm around her back and under her arms, Norman pulled her into a standing position. Norman couldn't stop himself from chuckling slightly. Leaving his arm around her back, Norman attempted to guide her down the stairs. "I don't think you're quite ready to take stairs on your own, yet," he said with a chuckle.
