| Travis stepped onto the train, glancing around to see if anyone had gotten on yet. He didn't really know who the District 10 volunteer was, but he was pretty sure they were a volunteer. He didn't see anyone in the room yet so he shrugged and walked over to the kitchen, scanning for something to eat. He saw some sort of pastry with a purple jelly filling in the center surrounded by bread. He picked it up, sniffed it and then took a bite. As soon as he tasted it his mouth went wide and he ate the rest of it within five seconds. He got a small plate from the cabinet and piled it with the rest of the same pastries and took them over to the couch. He began to eat, wolfing down each one, savoring each and every bite. He lost track of how many he had eaten, but he didn't exactly care at that point. All he could think about was eating and eating this delicious treat. While he was devouring his new favorite food, he didn't notice the door open to let in someone else.

| To think that it's back again. And Derald thought that he could've finally taken a break from all of this... load of crap. He was always on that stage, but some idiot always volunteered. But now he is on that stage, watching the idiots volunteer year after year, and he ain't getting' off that stage scott free. Derald said goodbye to the animals for a little while reassuring that he was gonna come back, guaranteed. He wasn't too sure about the freshies flying off though, he was their mentor for crying out loud. Is there any guide or manual or somethin'? Because Derald has nothing.
He walked through the familiar automated door, hat in Hus hand as he scanned the empty carriage. Only then did he let out a huge sigh, knowing themselves tributes, they'll usually be found where food is. He strolled towards the carriage with the counter of food, seeing a boy stuffing his face with a pastry, almost expecting it to happen. He came into the room and watched him eat in satisfaction and he remembered about himself, being overly amazed by pudding just last Games' Capitol period. "If ya eat that fast, you might just choke to death before the Gamea even start," he grinned, leaning on the tower as he made his presence known. Derald sat on the same couch with the boy. He picked up one pastry as well, stuffing it in his face together like the D10s they were. "So ya got a name you'd like me to call ya?" He turned to the new face, looking at his physique, that's something mentors should notice right? Right. | |

| Travis looked up as his mentor walked in, stopping in mid chew. He began to chew again, this time a bit more slowly and then swallowed. He was told that if he ate that if he ate fast, he might choke to death. He smiled and promptly replied, "Wouldn't exactly to be the worst way to go to be honest. These things are delicious..." With that, he took another one and began to eat it a bit more civilized, until he saw the previous victor stuffing his face as well. He shrugged, tearing into the snack, listening as he was asked a question. When Travis was done, he wiped his hands together in quick motions and then wiped them on his pants to get all the crumbs off. He finished chewing, swallowed and then held out his hand before he replied, "The name's Travis. Travis Davenport." He noticed his mentor looking at him to get a physical appearance. Made sense. He thought about himself for a second, knowing that he was pretty well built from all the work with the animals on the farm and his slight combat training. He knew his skin was also pretty rough because...well, the same reasons actually.

| Derald chuckled even with food in his mouth though he swallowed first before continuing "Ain't the best way to stay either." Feels just laid back there on the couch, half expecting the other tribute to come around here, half expecting the tribute to ask all sorts of questions because he sure remembered having a ton last year. "Derald Hafer I guess." He shrugged almost tempted to prompt them for something, anything, because train may seem like forever to get there but when you see a calendar, you'd get the shock of your life when one second you're in 10, the next, Capitol. Travis looked like any D10 born who worked in the farm most of their years, gyms are too mainstream. But Travis seemed like a really strong one, at glance. "So.. how's the Games." He asked in a casual voice, examining the pastry still in his hands, is it berry jam, or some other kind if jam but that's beside the point. Derald cleared his throat as the joke passed on to something else., "Anything ya think you should know about the fancy Capitol of Districts?" Derald starts bullshitting his way through. Even after a year, he still comes in here with the same plan, plan nothin'. | |

| He listened politely and shrugged as he took a bite out of yet another one of the pastries. He would need to find out the name of these things eventually. He shook that from his mind and swallowed what he had been eating when he was asked a question and replied, "Well I already know everything I need to about the Capitol and the Districts. What I really need to know about is like...what should I go for in the Games? Should I make alliances or just go solo? What's the most valuable thing for me to have?" He let all the questions flow and after he was done he took another bite, waiting for some answers. | |

| Derald raised an eyebrow and he got more comfortable after finishing the pastry in his hands. "Alright, smarty pants. Let's dig a lil deeper right away." Travis didn't look any older than Derald by a few years and of course, he wasn't exactly the best or wisest person to go to. "That all depends on the kind of people y'all are. And the kind you are. What's works best for you, just do it." He shrugged, never really planning into alliances or soloing. He just went there and looked at the people, and moved. Allies only made him think of Xavy but he easily shoved it aside as he grinned, "Oh I don't know, pants, food, water..." he started his rambling while he looked up but eyes shifted to Travis as he continued, "Trust." | |
