| After a little while, I slow to a jog, then a walk as I make my way through the forest. I don’t have a clear path and it feels like the trees are closing in, but I don’t want to get caught by that thing. But is it getting towards night, or is the forest getting darker? I go a little further and realize, yes, it’s the forest. I might as well wait for Derald here, seeing as I must have lost him when I ran off. He couldn’t have gotten eaten, right? I lean against a tree to rest, but now my body’s really exhausted. I don’t want to stand, I want to lay down and sleep. Plus, my mouth is dry, and they scared us away from the water. Great job, that. Then I remember my backpack. I must’ve gotten used to wearing it. Now’s not the time I tell myself, but I don’t believe me. I still have one foxskin, so I use that to set my meat down. Then, I carefully maneuver the pack off, careful not to move my right shoulder too much. It drops to the ground, but I figure after everything, whatever’s inside can take the fall. I double-check that my food is secure and grabable. As I open the bag, hopes fill my mind, but really anything could be there. | |

| Derald continued the sprint, even though he lost sight of the boy for a moment. The trees were in the way and he may good at running, but dodging was so not his thing. Just run, don't look back. Ever. Derald imagined seeing Marty's half chewed up body in its hand while it prances towards them and if he turned, he was next. He couldn't tell if the tremors stopped or there were getting further away but he wasn't sticking around to play Sherlock to that. He just put one feet in front of the other dodging every tree that sat in his way. When he saw a shadow in front of him, he didn't think he could stop in time and he tried to stop, tripping over a couple of roots and he landed right beside Xavy. "Reckon' it's nice to see you again." Derald grinned as he greeted him in a hushed voice, in between the frantic pants. He picked himself up, observing any scratched he would've gotten from that fall. He glanced around them not really wanting to stop because he was still really jumpy about the whole giant troll thingy thing.
He combed through his hair with his fingers and sighed. He stayed silent for a couple of moments before muttering genuinely, "Man, I just lost of underwear buddy.." Marty was as healthy as the nurses, and he was gone just like that. It was scary, really. Xavy was digging through his bag and Derald realised that he has never really dug through it before. He wanted to ask about the contents but he was worried about what he got in his. Clutching his bag closed to keep the smell from traveling. "I grabbed a couple of the raw ones but maybe throwing them out would be the best use of them now.." He looked at Xavy, hoping for an opinion on that before he did anything with it, releasing the scent of raw meat.
Derald's Items: - 1 Knife, Dusk, naming his weapons cause he's coolz like that. - 1 wooden tap in his tight pants - 1 pair of bloody shirt, pants and boots with hideous color sense - 1 set of raw fox meat and skin - meager among of cooked meat - 1 bag to hold stuff. Except the tap.

| Inside the pack was a sleeping bag and that was all. It looked big enough to fit one and was something that insulated heat, definitely helpful if sleeping in the colder parts of the arena | |

| A sleeping bag. That's all. I shove my hand back into the bag, feeling around in case there was something else. No luck. Worthless as "Coal dust." I hear something approaching and then Derald's landed himself right next to me. "Well, you're the one that decided to drop by," I say as he picks himself up. I zip up the bag and throw it over my good shoulder, and, after a bit of one-handed maneuvering, I get it over the other, trying to keep the strap off of the wound. Still, I wince a bit as I secure the bag. After a second, I notice the empty bag; the one my clothes used to be in. It's smaller and more of a draw-string; I could fit it on my belt. So that's what I do; it takes a minute, but I do it. Now, I can access this bag without taking it off. I put my meat and fox skins in that bag for easier access. Then I fasten the shield back onto my arm and get to my feet, slowly, being one-handed and all. He breaks the silence, reminding me we've lost Marty. It wasn't like I exactly trusted the guy, but to go like that... I shudder, try to ignore the pain in my shoulder. My only other response is to just nod. After a second, Derald starts talking about the meat. "Not really; If we throw it now, that thing could find us faster." I say. He really should've tossed it back at the fire, but too late now. "We should probably just move. Find water. And uh... you should wear something. It's going to get cold." At least, that sleeping bag showed it would get cold at night. After a second, I start walking again, deeper into the forest. - OOC:
So um, middle paragraph can mostly be skipped; I assumed the bags were like draw-string gym bags or something so yeah. And um, sorry if it's worded weird, I was inturrupted a lot while writing and I don't proofread so...sorry o.o

| Derald tried to help the fella up, chuckling. He shrugged and nodded. Okay, so keeping' the meat. He tugged to tighten then bag and was ready to head on. He glanced around their new area, it was still trees, except much darker, much thicker. It was probably safe to say that they were getting deeper into the forest, not knowing anything else that lies ahead. Where were all the other tributes? Scratch that, he already lost count how many were gone. When Xavy mentioned water, Derald groaned, they just had some but now his body was already whining like a 5 year old kid for more. He looked up at Xavy as talked about clothes. "Well I would if they even fit me," Derald sighed, putting his hand into the bag to draw out the bloodied, cut up shirt. He pulled it over his head, being ripped up and all it was much easier. But Derald think he might pass on trying the pants for now. He probably couldn't even run in those pants. It felt a lot warmer right after they were put on and Derald rubbed his arms. "Think I can hold up for a couple more hours, let's just keep movin'."
He quickened his pace to walk beside Xavy as they continued into one direction, not exactly sure where they were going but as long as it was somewhere, it was better than here. He stared at the trees, they basically looked like the ones back there and he doubt any water was going to come out form these. Rats, and he thought that tap he kept wouldn't come in handy somehow. He glanced back to Xavy, focused on the road ahead. "Hey," Derald whispered, hoping to get his attention ass he grinned, "told ya it was a troll." Somehow he found the situation a little funny, controlling his laughter as he swallowed the smile back. They just continued to walk. Hoping to find something of use. Or maybe some people to get rid of.

| The forest was dark on this end, much different from the side they had just been on. The two coukd barely see 20 feet in front of them. | |

| We walk in silence, the forest getting darker bit by bit, until Derald can't seem to stand it any longer."You also said it was Bigfoot," I say, my glance to the sky a plea for help, "You aren't exactly accurate." But at least he's still joking around.
I keep moving, but the darkness gets heavier. Are we even going the right way? I sigh, shake my head. I let my thoughts wander around a bit, back to the district. Home feels like a lifetime ago by now. Back when Will was still my friend and Rose was just a hope and Madelyn would slit my throat in a heartbeat. Madelyn. I stop walking. How long had she been missing? "Where's Madelyn?" I ask, looking back at Derald for the answer. As if he would know.

| Derald let out a short laugh and shrugged, pulling at the shirt, "It's always good to have more possibilities." He squinted in front, trying to cut through the darkness. The selfish monster inside him grumbled about how they should've took the matchsticks from Marty but he shook his head once he realised his thoughts. He almost bumped into a tree. He took smaller steps into the blanket of black while he glanced to his side, seeing Xavy silent and just moving. Hell, they didn't even know where they were going. They could be reaching an edge of the arena and they wouldn't even know. It was so quiet all the way. And it made him wonder what it was like to not talk. He was reminded of those people back in the Capitol, those that seem to stand around and never utter a single word. Even those in their rooms. Could his parents have been a part of them? ..Nah, they were too much of a chatterbug. But he's just denying that possibility; he hasn't been told anything that everything is possible. Where were they? While he asked himself that question, the same echoed from behind, Xavy asking where Maddie was. Derald continued to walk, turning to see Xavy a couple of steps behind. "I dunno, rodeoing a dragon or somethin'?" He blurted nonsense as he finally processed the question. Stopping, trying to find an answer to that. "She got seperated by a huge tree that fell and all and well.. I doubt that she's still around there." It's either she was somewhere else or in that trolls belly. But Derald didn't say that out loud, he let Xavy respond first and now maybe they may have a direction to go.

| Xav didn't remember seeing Madelyn's face in the sky, but you never knew in the games. The forest just got darker the deeper they ventured on the trail. | |

| That long ago? Well, I was busy with other things. I glance at the sky, but there's nothing beyond the canopy. I haven't been looking anyway. All the better if she was dead; then I can't be blamed for it. "Well, there's no use going back for her," I say, taking the lead again in a few quick strides. "Maybe she went this way anyway." I wouldn't doubt it, the Seam kids liked the dark, right?
As we go, it just keeps getting darker. But there was a trail, or at least what felt like one. Which meant someone...or something... had to come this way at some point. I strain my eyes to keep looking at the path in the fading light. "What could be so valuable out here that they have a path anyway?" I grumble. I can't remember anything ever being useful in the darkness.

| Derald kept quiet, feeling bad about actually kinda forgetting about looking for her. A lot of other things were going on and it just well.. They were there for quite awhile they can only assume that she got out of this forest. He wasn't too sure about the thought of her walking through here. He stared at the ground, focusing on where he was stepping, while the guilt starts chewing up from the insides. He only look up again when Xavy talked about something else, bringing their attention to another point. "Y'know that old sayin' they use to say. The journey is more important than the destination? This is just prolly the reverse," he chuckled catching up to Xavy with his quickened pace, "And maybe there'll be some bone at the end of the rainbow."

| The forest was pretty silent around them, until the tremors began again from farther away this time. Luckily enough though the forest seemed to lighten up slightly. Alerting them to the thinning trees and telling them that they were reaching the edge of the forest. | |

| "I thought the expression included gold?" I say with a shake of my head. That's when the tremors start again. Far away, but that's what it seemed like last time. "Guess Mister Troll wants seconds," I say, quickening my pace a bit more. Who knows how far the edge is? Wait, is it just me or... yeah, it's getting lighter. I blink a few times, glance around as I go. "Maybe it's wishful thinking, but looks like it's thinning out." State the obvious, obviously.

| Derakd put some serious thought into it before shrugging, "Gold's just the bonus." He whipped his head back as the tremors started yet again. Well, now they know that a couple of foxes are not enough to feed a troll. Derald got the urge to chuck the thing that could probably give them away but refrained because that would've killed them faster than the meat could rot. "Understandable. That dog don't hunt if that's all it ate," he muttered, reaking of southern slang as he looked back to the front, noticing a few streaks of light cutting in. He turned to Xavy, holding on tight to his things before starting off a with a slow jog, "then maybe it's time we book it." He didn't like being in this forest any longer than the next guy at the bar, picking up his pace while he looked out for a bigger clearing. As much as he liked being so close to Xavy, some light would really be nice and sane again.
