Robert arrived at the Training Gym apparently early. All he saw were a few tributes, but what surprised him was that the careers weren't here yet. What surprised him even more was that the only person at the melee station was the male tribute from District 12. He see's the older kid hacking away at the dummy with no form, elegance or grace...he shook his head and walked over to the ranged station, thinking he'd want to talk with the other guy. He might be a useful ally. He looked over all the weapons for the station he was at and saw his favorites: javelins and throwing spears. However, he ignored them and grabbed a few throwing knives. He set them out and picked the first one up by the blade and balanced it carefully...and then he threw it at the target, watching the blade spin around and barely hit the target on the chest, the hilt angled down. He threw the others in the same way, two hitting the target and staying in and the other bouncing harmlessly off. He sighed and picked up the bow, drawing an arrow, notching it and then pulled back. He aimed it at the target, inhaling...and let the arrow fly, right into the target's head. He shot a few more, the others finding their way to vital places as well. He went to try out the crossbow as well, unaware if someone was approaching or not,

"Hey" Glyph said as he came over to the long ranged area. He had watched the kid throw several knives and Shoot several arrows. He seemed to be better at Archery than throwing knives, but Glyph didnt make any comment. He looked at the kid, he had longer hair than most boys he knew and seemed skinny. Not doubting his strength Glyph stretched his hands over his head, His tattoo showing in the pale morning light.

Robert brought the crossbow up, the bolt loaded, and shot it at the target. He smiled as he heard the satisfactory thud as the bolt released and it hit the target. He heard someone talk behind him and turned around, noticing the number 11 on his outfit immediately. He smiled and replied, "District eleven huh? Nice to meet you. Robert Lenford, District four." He nodded to his fellow tribute before reloading the crossbow and shooting again, another hit to the target.

"Haha Yeah. I'm Joey, Although my friends call me Glyph. District Four huh? That's a Career district.... Um" Glyph got nervous, he never figured a Career would talk to him. "you seem to know know what you are doing... Got any pointers? District Eleven doesn't have much training ability." Glyph looked around trying not to show his nervousness.

Rob noticed that he seemed a bit nervous. He laughed slightly and slapped him on the shoulder. "Relax man. I wasn't much of the training type home. I was the one that fished with tridents and spears...which is probably just as good of training if you ask me, but, I still don't think of myself as a true career." He smiled and shot another bolt at the target. "Well I got a tip about melee fighting. Stick 'em with the pointy end." He grinned and began to reload the crossbow and when he was done he gave it to the D11 kid. "And for crossbows, lift, aim, shoot. Simple as that." He stepped back and motioned for him to try.

Was it really that simple? lift, aim, shoot? He gulped and took the crossbow from the D4 kid. "Well I'll remember that little tip about the pointy end... It might come in handy one day." Glyph breathed and out. He felt a weird feeling come over, like a sudden feeling of accomplishment. He breathed, and brought the gun up in a swift motion.
Lift.

the gun was heavy and dipped forwards a bit, readjusting his grip on the handle, the tip moved upwards. He aimed at the head, right into the back end of the previous shot there.

Aim.

He pulled the trigger, and felt the jolt of bolt leaving the gun rattle all the way up his arm. The arrow released, and the shaft whipped back and forth in a fishtail swing, causing the bolt to twirl in midair. As the shot crashed into the end of the shaft which was already stuck into the dummy, a splitting sound elapsed. the bolt twirled and pushed through shaft, splinters falling to the ground, and then landing with a soft successful thud.

Fire.

Within the two seconds that passed between him raising his hand and the bolt thudding to a halt, Glyph's heart skipped a beat. He gulped and looked over at the D4 tribute, "So, something like that?" was all he could manage with his own awe taking over.

Rob nodded. "Now, the tricky ranged weapons are the throwing ones and bows. The crossbow is different because you're not using your power and strength the influence the shot. The crossbow does it for you." He took a throwing spear from the rack and held it on hand, as if he were about to throw it. "The spear is completely different. With this, you're using most your strength to influence where it goes." And with that, he looked back and threw the spear and watched as it struck the dummy in the chest.

Glyph gulped. With the ease and grace that the kid threw the spear, he was in a for some serious war. He grabbed one and threw it, but it sailed to the left of the target, and landed up short. He sighed, "How is this done? Could you show me, like the form or something? Because I suck ass." Glyph said looking back at Robert. He sighed and knew he was far behind on training and stood no chance against some of the other Tributes.

Deluna had kept to herself since the train ride, listening to her mentor's advice. Selfish tributes made it far. She could do that, hopefully. So far, she hadn't attached herself to anyone in the Capitol, and it was going just fine for her. The girl was still on the track of not knowing or caring about anyone else. Life in the arena would be easier that way, at least that's what she kept telling herself.

The day for training had arrived, and Deluna went straight to the ranged station, where spears were kept. She had worked with this kind of weapon before, back home, and it suited her best. Her icy eyes found her district partner talking to someone, and Deluna debated whether she should engage in conversation with them or not. She decided against it, and went towards a rack of the spears.

In district four, she would always make her own spears, it just felt more personalized that way. Here, things were different. Deluna hesitantly reached for one of the spears, the grip somewhat awkward in her hands. The balance was perfect, but the tribute wasn't sure she liked it or not. Using her arm muscles, she hurled it at the training dummy, about ten yards away. The spear lodged itself in the stomach of the victim, which would work, but wasn't her normal aim.

Frowning, the tribute reached for another spear and continued practicing. Deluna hoped Robert wouldn't notice her, or talk to her. It would be easier for her to survive alone if he kept his distance.

Robert smiled as the spear flew past the target. "It's best to start with something easy." He grabbed a throwing knife by the blade in his right hand and held it up like a dart, with the hilt pointing towards him. He put his left arm by his right arm, the wrist of his left hand locking into the back of his right arm's elbow. "It takes a lot of practice to master these skills. No matter what they say, ranged weaponry will always be more difficult that melee...you have to focus on where you want the weapon to go...and you have to know how much of your strength will get it there." He took a deep breath, pulled back, and threw it dagger and it flew through the hair, hitting the target on the head. He nodded and handed the other kid a throwing knife. That was when he noticed Deluna, his district partner, throw a spear into the stomach of one of the dummies. He grinned and called over to her, "Nice throw." His grin was back and he looked at the rack to find out what weapon he wanted to use next.

"Is it like darts? I used to play darts back at the inn near my house..." Glyph said as he grabbed a knife. He tried his best to mimic Roberts stance, and flicked his wrist, sending the knife forward. The blade sank deep into the lower point of the stomach, but not very far in. "I was aiming for the head. Maybe more than just a flick of the wrist?" asked Glyph. Glyph turned around and looked over at the other District Four tribute, and sighed. Yeah he was drastically under prepared.

Deluna's face hardened at the sound of Robert's voice, addressed to her. She didn't look at him, just kept tossing her spears. Each time she threw a weapon, she felt like she was getting worse. The Capitol definitely wasn't the place for her. "Thanks," she muttered after a few seconds. Taking another look at the person that Robert was befriending, the girl shook her head.

Keeping her distance could be harder than she thought. Glancing over at the knife, barely lodged into the training dummy, she resisted the urge to comment. Barely. Tightening her grip on her sixth spear now, the girl threw this time with more force than ever before. The spear nailed itself in the left shoulder of the dummy, nearly missing it entirely. Anger wasn't going to get her anywhere in the games.

Sighing, she flicked her icy eyes over at the knife once more. "The harder you throw it, the more it will get in," Deluna muttered, this time picking up a knife. Smaller weapons weren't exactly her thing, but who knows what the gamemakers had in mind. They could be fighting with nothing for all she knew.

The knife was smaller, and she wasn't sure if she liked the balance of it, but Deluna threw it anyways. The throwing knife did a few circles, hit the victim with it's handle, and fell to the ground. "Or maybe not," she added, grabbing another weapon. Hopefully there was a spear for her in the arena.

"Definitely a bit more than a flick of the wrist." He smiled and laughed as he crossed his arms and walked over to Deluna. "You have the right idea, but have to make sure the blade hits where you want it to go first, instead of the hilt. Whether the blade punctures their neck lightly or goes straight through to the other side, it'll kill them just as dead." He smiled and picked up a knife, handing it to her.

Glyph grabbed another knife and breathed, He brought the blade close, so the handle was resting on the notch in his elbow. popping his elbow out, and flicking his wrist He sent the blades whirling toward the dummy, but again his aim was off. "How do you aim these damn things?" Asked Glyph as he frowned with his hand on the next knife, He turned to watch the other two people. He smiled, hopefully he could get a trio going, it would do him some good. He would really learn to fight, to survive, and he would become part of a segregated career pact. But the only down side of this was, if they made it to the final three, it was him verses two well trained Careers. Glyph gulped again, and found it in himself to leave it up to the dice of fate.

Deluna kept her expression neutral as Robert came over and instructed her. She so often tried to be nice, she did, but sometimes it was so hard. Her district partner seemed to know everything about weapons. How fortunate of him. "Okay," she commented with a weak smile, taking the knife from him.

Inhaling, she positioned herself and threw it, and this time it fell into the stomach of the victim. Apparently she wasn't used to this. Deluna noticed the other boy, from district eleven, seemed rather uncomfortable. Like, somehow he was outnumbered. She dismissed the thought and went back to her weapons.

Gripping a longer knife, she smiled slightly. This weapon seemed better, it just felt better. Bringing her arm back, she flicked it at the dummy, watching it spin through the air. It hit the center of the victim's chest, leaving Deluna with a smile on her face.

Robert looked back at Glyph when he asked how you aim a throwing knife. He laughed and said, "Simple. Look where you want the knife to go, and throw it there. Simple." He kept his grin as he looked back at Deluna and saw her grab a longer bladed weapon. She threw it and it hit the dummy square in the chest. He nodded in approval and said, "Now that was an excellent throw. Good job."

Glyph threw another one, with the aiming tip he was given. It sank deep into the dummies head. Being ambidextrous, Glyph grabbed one with his left hand, and threw it, taking a couple practice throws before actually tossing it. The same result occurred and caused Glyph to smile. Putting a Knife in each hand, He tossed one and then spun around tossing the other. A thud thud made a lasting, satisfying sound in ears. "Well that's a nifty trick," said Glyph trying get the knives out from the dummies.

Geoffrey usually preferred to keep the distance between him and Gemma as minimal as possible, but today they had a mission. He let his usual adorable lopsided grin spread across his face and wandered over to an area with several tributes around it. Two of them he was pretty sure were from 4, and the other he thought was from 11. He waved at them with both hands. "Hi!" Geoffrey chirped. "I'm Geoffrey. Whatcha doing?" His eyes fell on the knives in the target and he nodded. "Ooh. Aren't knives fun?" Whoops, tone it down, he reminded himself. Knives kill people. Killing people is bad. Bad Geoffrey. You can kill people with knives later. For now, be normal. "I mean, I like using them to cook with, but I've never really thrown one before." He picked up a throwing knife and tossed it lightly at a dummy, but didn't really try to aim anywhere. It lodged itself somewhere in the knee and he laughed as if he was a little embarrassed. "Help a poor unfortunate soul learn at least one weapon before the Games?"

Catelyn walked over and grabbed an axe. She thought that this weapon would save her many times. She gripped it hard, and threw it hard at the dummy. Well, there ya go. She needed an axe. And would die without one. It hit the heart. Or where the dummies heart would be.

Robert grinned and clapped Glyph on the shoulder. "Now you're getting the hang of it mate." He took his hand away and was going over to the weapon rack when he saw the District 6 male tribute. He introduced himself as Geoffrey and eyed a knife before calling them fun. He tried to make an excuse for saying so by mentioning cooking, but Rob just laughed and grabbed a knife from the rack as well. "Don't worry about it man. Knives are pretty fun to throw around. Can keep your attention for hours." He was spinning the throwing knife in his hand a little, then grabbed it by the end of the blade with his thumb and index finger, and threw it into one of the targets. He noticed there were some tributes at the melee station...and was absolutely shocked when he saw no careers were over there. "No careers at the melee district? I should change that...well, you guys have fun here." He smiled and waved as he jogged off to the melee station.

Glyph registered the slap on his shoulder and the sudden cockiness of Rob. He turned his head sideways, completely taken aback by his change of personality. It seemed to happen in an instant. "Well, I guess then you should fix that huh... career?" Glyph watched as Rob left the station, but was thankful for the lessons. Turning to the new kid that had walked in. "Hey, I'm Glyph, how are you?" Glyph mumbled as he looked at the new kid.

Geoffrey grinned. "Nice to meet you, Glyph! I'm doing very well, thanks, how about you?" He said brightly. He cautiously picked up another knife, as if he had never seen one before today and chucked it at the same dummy he'd hit in the knee. "Maybe this one will go better?" Geoffrey shrugged as the blade sunk into the dummy's shoulder. "A little to the right and that would have been a lot more effective, huh?" He giggled. "Human bodies are so weirdly precise like that." He ran a hand through his hair and glanced at the other weapons. "You got any idea how to use a javelin, Glyphie?"

Catelyn saw that everyone was basically ignoring her. "Hello? I'm alive too, ya know?" She hollered. She walked over and grabbed a knife. She threw it and it landed at the head. "Meh, I don't expect to be THAT good at weapons." She said. She started smiling,. She was happy for some reason.

Geoffrey heard a voice from behind him complain about being ignored spun around. It was the girl from 10. He flashed her a bright but sideways smile. "Good thing too, it would be a shame if a pretty girl like you wasn't alive." He said innocently, as if he didn't even consider the compliment flirting, and it was just stating an obvious fact. Geoffrey glanced back at Glyph and shifted positions so he could keep both of them in his eyeline at the same time. "You both seem like such lovely people, inside and out." Geoffrey laughed. "But hey, I've only known y'all for like five minutes." He looked back at the girl from 10 and his smile widened as he introduced himself. "I'm Geoffrey. What's your name?" He pursed his lips. "Come on, I can't just keep referring to you as 'pretty girl', however true that description may be."

Catelyn blushed, "I'm Catelyn Dulton. District 10." She said. She grabbed another axe and threw it. It hit the heart. "Ahh, district 10. Home of the butchists'" she said. "Hm, that almost sounds like a religion.
