'Escape' :

Thomas watched the area, he was hesitate to leave, and looked around in wonder. He noticed the girl who was teamed with the one from twelve look for an escape route. Turning further, he noticed the pond ripple. Tilting his head and walking closed, Thomas noticed something shining in the pond, near where the girl from twelve was. Looking around, he noticed she had disappeared. Kneeling down, he reached for the glittering object in the water. Grabbing something, he tugged the item from the pond. When it was pulled free from the water, Thomas noticed it was the sword he tried so hard to get. Gripping the hilt, he waved it back and forth, wielding it for the first time. Smiling to himself, he glanced at the enemy. She was too focused on finding a way out, and didn't seem to notice him currently. He smiled, it was his time now.

He moved towards her, "Neither of us can stay or go knowing the other is alive," he said aloud. He didn't know whether or not she heard him, but he didn't care as he swung the sword towards her.

Thomas smiled as his sword struck the girl, who turned out to be unable to block the strike to the leg. She had taken a swing at him, but seemed to have been caught off-guard and missed him by a fraction. Thomas smirked, that miss could prove to be a downturn for her. As he smirked, however, he felt a pain in his side. Grabbing his side, he looks around and notices a rock had hit him. "Well, uh, ow, he said to no one, but had a feeling the Gamemakers were restless. Attempting to shake it off and hide the pain, Thomas notices someone coming up the hillside. A smile grew slightly on his face as he noticed Preston. When Preston swung at the girl, Thomas knew that his odds had just improved dramatically. Drawing his sword, he swung at the girl.

Preston watched as another rock flew to Thomas. But Preston stayed focused on his kill. Preston slashed again at the girl from District 5. The girl looked like she was looking for an escape route. He mine as well drain her energy while he was there. "Thomas. Those rocks love you." Preston joked, trying to make humor in the battle. Preston looked at the girl, who seemed to be in better shape than he. But that didn't matter, because she was outnumbered. Preston put a devious smile on his face, prepared for more action.

As another rock hit Thomas, he looked around to look for a camera. There were certain words and gestures he wanted to give those Gamemakers, but he decided to resort to shaking his head. Kicking one of the rocks into the pond, Thomas sighed. He watched Jennifer, whom he thought had already fled, and the girl from Five flee. Lowering his sword, Thomas looked to his ally. "Well, that was slightly interesting, won't ya say?" he asked Preston. He twirled his sword a bit, weakly, as his shoulder was now hurting from the rock. He returned his gaze to Preston, "So.... what do you suppose we do?"

Thomas sighed, he was feeling slightly exhausted already. He knew Preston was right, they needed to stay hydrated. What, with this being a desert arena and all. "Yea. You look to be in worse shape than myself, Preston. I can understand not fighting," Thomas said, sitting on the edge of the pond with a tree to his back. His mind drifted back to District Eight, he remembered sitting almost this same way with June so long ago. On a log on the edge of a pond. Except, he realized, that was the last time he had really talked to her. "Man, this is so familiar," he muttered aloud, pushing his hand back through his hair. He hoped June wouldn't see this.

"Highlight of the Games? Right there. What just happened," he responded. He dipped his hand into the pond and took a sip of the water. Clicking his tongue on his teeth, "Yea. I ran from the Corn and wound up here. No supplies, no nothing. I did encounter Jennifer up here, but she's left it seems." He blinked, his mind drifting back to District Eight.
