The District 12 escort steps up on stage and smiles with blindingly white teeth. She starts speaking in a high pitched voice, "Welcome everyone to the Reapings! Today one young man and woman will be chosen to participate in the 33rd Annual Hunger Games!" She steps up to the big bowls containing the names of every child in the district, from 12 to 18. Her hands hover above the bowls for a second, as if deciding something. "Now then, Ladies first!" she says, and reaches into the bowl filled with girls names...

Me, my Dad and Joseph walk towards the Justice Building, waiting for the crucial names to be called out. It was my sister last year, and the last thing I want is for Joseph's name to be called out. I hold his hand as we get closer. Because he is older than me and we are opposite genders, we will be split up until the end of the ceremony. I kiss him on the forehead and I hug my Dad before I take my place.

When the ceremony started, I wanted to sleep. They introduced the previous victors and only one stood. As usual. And then the nervous moment. "Ladies first." she says as she grabs a name. She stands in front of the mic and opens her mouth and says...

She dug her hand into the bowl and pulled out the female tribute's name, "Meme Darouth" She called out and then she dug into the male's bowl. "Frank Orion"

I let out a sigh as I was spared for another year. All I had to do was not get picked for 2 more years and I would be home free. I kind of feel sorry though, for the tributes that did get picked this year.

It wasn't me. I quickly looked up to the sky to thank God. I had the boys to worry about though. That quickly followed with a boy named Frank though. Joseph was safe as well. I was so relieved. I try to find him through the crowd but I couldn't.
