--Interviewer Extraordinaire--

Caesar Flickerman stood up as he went to introduce the next tribute ready for their interview, the lights shining brightly down on the large stage created a breathtaking scene as the faces of the District's tributes were being displayed behind him. He held his hand out off stage as he warmly introduced them to the Capitol. "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome the girl with the score of 10, Grace Newton from District 5!" The audience boomed as he motioned for her to come and join him center stage.

Grace couldn't stand still, she was nervious and unsure of what to say or do. It felt like a long time since the chariot ride that had celebrated their introduction to the games yet really could it only have been a few days? In that time so much had changed, she had been taken away from her District and thrown into a compleatly alien world of strange customs, exotic food and being offered the training to kill or survive the trials to come. In the back of her mind she knew that this was her one chance to speak to Gustav and her son, though they would not be there she knew her words would be broadcast thoughtout Param and on record for years to come. She was a part of history and it was hard not to be terrified of the roar of the crowd as Ceaser called her name.

She had insulted the gamemakers and lived, what fear did this have? Yet stage fright was catching and she found people egging her towards the centre of the stage. 'Deep breath, try to remember who you are' Where the shouts louder for her or less? Grace did not know as she quietly took the stage. She didn't speak or even shake Ceasar's hand but just looked straight into the lights, lost in the spotlight. What was there to say that hadn't been said a million times before? At least her designer had made a strong statement, taking the 10 her face was made strong with the magic of makeup and her dress was a simple cut inspired by her now famous overalls. Grace tried to swallow the terror but words where less forthcoming and in truth she couldn't think of a single thing to say to Ceaser except that it was all a mistake! She belonged in District 5 not here in the spotlight with all of Param watching her.

Caesar allowed the crowd to roar as Grace came out, stoic and almost lost looking. He motioned for her to sit as he took a seat on the stage as the crowd began to die down. "Welcome Grace, you are looking quite lovely tonight. Isn't she folks?" As if on cue the audience broke out into applause as more people began to cheer for the tribute onstage with him. "So, how are you feeling you look a little nervous. Don't worry, everyone here already loves you." Caesar reached out his arm and placed his hand on her shoulder reassuringly.

Grace could feel the camera's watching her every move as she sat down and crossed her arms cleary uncomfortable in the camera's unflinching gaze. Ceaser's words washed over her as he worked the crowd eliciting applause. They where clapping for her face and dress but Grace didn't feel that they where applauding her at all. She could have been anyone and they would cheer just the same. Grace waited as the applause quieted down and Ceasar started asking her questions. Grace wasn't happy that he mentioned her nervousness and at the question she shook her head "How am I feeling?" she mulled over the question a second trying to think of a way of answering that wouldn't get her into more trouble then she was already in. Shrugging off Caesar's hand she looked into the lights trying to ignore the crowd and focus on the question at hand "I guess I am a little nervous.. when I first came here I was angry, so angry that we where going to be forced to fight and die in the games.. but now I guess in a small way I'm grateful".

She was playing with the plastic ring on her finger as she spoke "Most of the other tributes, they die so young that they never got a chance to fall in love or even know what that word means. I mean it must be hard for you Ceasar.. knowing that almost all the people you have interviewed are dead?" This wasn't the way a tribute was supposed to talk and she knew it, yet she was trying her best to hide the anger and hate for Ceasar and every person in the crowd watching. She hated them all such that a tiny hint of accusation fell on the final word of her question. How could Ceasar sit there so happily and pretend that he hadn't said the same words to so many tributes before her and wouldn't do likewise for many more years to come? He was a monster, just like the rest of them.
