Up High, Maybe

Ariana looked around curiously as she set Milo down on the floor. She had absolutely no idea where she was, only that she was most certainly not the tunnels. She felt like she was up high since she had climbed a tall ladder. Although that might just be because the tunnel was down low. Either way it didn't matter. What she needed was to find what was in here. Was anything here at all? Hopefully something useful.

Ariana sighed as nothing was revealed. Not even a door or a window. But there had to be some way out besides the trapdoor. There was air in here, and Ariana was almost certain it wasn't coming from the tunnel she had just been in. Maybe she just wasn't looking hard enough. Ariana watched as Milo scampered around before going off to inspect the walls of this room. She prodded along, seeing if there were any secret pressure sensitive lates or something. Or maybe she would just find food. Or supplies. Maybe another puppy? Anything worked really. Ariana kept looking, not really sure what she was searching for.

Off in the distance Milo had found a door and barked. Ariana would have to open and see where it went.

Ariana whipped her he's around as Milo barked. Up until then she hadn't found anything. No supplies, no windows, not even another puppy. She had been ready to give up. That is, until Milo started yapping. She quickly scampered over to him and the door he had found. Ariana quickly calmed Milo down, she didn't need any other tributes knowing her whereabouts. Once he was contentedly sitting on the floor, wagging his tail, Ariana gave the door a closer look. It really didn't look like anything special, but that could mean anything. Ariana looked down to Milo and shrugged gently. She shoved at the door, seeing what would happen.

Inside the room was a staircase going up.

Ariana looked at the staircase curiously. Well then, should she go up it? She didn't really have a choice. But where was she if she could go even higher? Or maybe she wasn't as high as she thought she was. Milo didn't seem to he worried. He was dancing around happily just like usual. Weren't dogs meant to have really good senses of smell and hearing or something? She knew it wasn't eyesight, because dogs were colourblind, they saw in black and white. Ariana had never really got why it was called black and white, didn't they see grey as well? She shook those thoughts out of her head and started climbing the steps. She might as well see where thu went.

On her way up, a stair had crumbled beneath her and she almost fell but regained her balance, that was a close one.

Ariana glanced around her as she climbed. The staircase seemed pretty normal. That is, if a random stone staircase appearing out of the wall was normal. It was normal for the Arena anyways. Ariana was so busy admiring the 'view' that she diet really take notice of where she was putting her feet. A stair crumbled as she put her foot on it, sending her falling forward. After a small shriek Ariana quickly caught herself and lifted Milo over the gap. He probably would've made it if he had jumped, but Ariana didn't want any chances. After taking a short break Ariana kept climbing. She made sure to watch her feet as well as the rest of the staircase this time. Next time she might not be so lucky.

When she finally reached the top of the staircase Ariana was panting quite a bit. Those stairs were pretty steep, and Ariana wasn't very good with stairs. Nobody would be good with those stairs, they were exhausting. But she had finally reached the top. Now what? Ariana looked around expectantly seeing what was here. Hopefully something intereting and not bad. But knowing the Gamemakers that wouldn't happen.

Ariana sighed spiffy as nothing really major appeared. She probably just needed to look closer, but the room was fairly large. It might take her a while. But then Milo scampered over to something, sniffing excitedly. Ariana grinned. It seemed this pup had more use than just being company. She ran after him quietly, examining the parachute quickly. It was obviously a sponsor gift. A sponsor gift? That would be the first one for her so far. But what could be inside it? Ariana had thought she was doing pretty well in the supply department so far. Sure, she had lost her sleeping bag. But she had a blanket instead now. Still, Ariana wasn't complaining. She opened up the sponsor gift eagerly to see what was inside.

Ariana grinned as she managed to tear away all the outside packaging. Inside was a bag of dog food. Somebody in the Capitol must have noiced that dogs aren't meant to eat human food. "Look Milo, someone in the Capitol cares about you." She told her puppy. Ariana opened up the bag and gave a handful of the food to Milo. He gobbled it up immediately, seeming to be very happy with his new treat. Ariana closed the bag again and shoved it in her backpack. She took out an apple and ate it quickly, the fruit would start going off soon anyway. Ariana soon realisedf that she couldn't close the backpack with the dog food inside. She shrugged gently and removed the mirror. It could go, she hadn't even used it. Ariana placed the mirror on the floor in the corner of the room, put the dog food inside her backpack and zipped it up. Then she looked around the room. Was anything else here? She crept aroound the edges, eyes peeled for anything unusual. Who knows, she might just have to go back down to the other room or something? This place did seem very empty though. Ariana felt as if she were miles away from anybody else besides Milo. Maybe the Arena was bigger than she had first thought.

Ariana shrugged gently as nothing else appeared to be in the room. Well, that was better than something had anyway. Now she could sleep again. She was bound to meet some other tributes eventually, and she needed to be at full strength. Ariana pulls her blanket it if her bag and fed some more dog food to Milo. Then she curled up in the blanket, letting Milo in too. As soon as she was settled Ariana's eyes closed. Hopefully this wouldn't be her last sleep...

Ariana yawned as she woke up from her sleep. Nothing had disturbed. Nothing had even slightly disturbed. Not wind, not mutts, and not even other tributes. It was very nice actually. Ariana stuffed her blanket in her nag after munching on two crackers and giving Milo some dog food. Then she drank some water and gave some to him. Finally, Ariana zipped up her bag (with her two knives still out) and looked around the room again. Had the Gamemakers aded anything in the night? Ariana crept around, looking everywhere. Milo trotted along beside her, sniffing the ground.

Ariana sighed as nothing new revealed itself. Well, she would just have to leave then. Was there a new door? Ever since she had got out of the tunnels the Gamemakers had been stranngely fond of creating doors. Would they do it again? Or would Ariana just have to retrace her steps and go back down into the tunnels? Maybe she would find a new area or something. Really, the Gamemakers could do anything they wanted to. Ariana looked around the room again, this time searching for a door. There had to be one somewhere.

Ariana frowned slightly as she didn't find any other doors. Well, that was new. Maybe the Gamemakers were focused elsewhere, on the other tributes. Ariana frowned again, who were the other tributes? She hadn't seen the sky for ages; all she could hear were the canons. They only told her when someone died, not who died. Was Hudson still out there? Ariana discarded these thoughts since she had no way of answering them. Instead, she walked over to where the door she had come in had been. Was it still there? It had to be, otherwise there was now at out of this place.

Ariana followed Milo quickly, wandering where on earth he was going. Had he heard something? Well, at least he wasn't barking. Suddenly a canon sounded, causing Ariana to jump. She breathed slowly, trying to calm her heart rate. With that canon sound, it meant she was in the final four. How did I ever get here?, she asked herself lightly. She was one of the youngest people in this round of the Games, and she was still alive. Would the others even remember her? Hopefully not. It was better that they forgot she existed.
