| The leaves seemed fairly ordinary to Rhea. | |

| Rhea observed the leaves and recognized them immediately. They looked like the same ones her mother used to make bandages sometimes when she couldn't spare any cloth. They didn't have any known healing properties, but they were sturdy and wide which meant they were great for covering things, and most importantly they weren't poisonous and putting them against her skin wasn't going to leach anything into her body. She walked over to the river, the moving water meant that there was not stagnant waste in it and it was safe to clean the leaves with. She dipped them in and flipped them over a couple times. She pressed the leaves against the scrape against her leg where the arrow managed to get her. Luckily it had only just brushed against her skin, leaving only a minor wound. She just had to make sure the bleeding stopped. After a few moments of holding the leaf against her leg, the wound began to cease any oozing that it had previously done. The cold felt good against the torn flesh and even if it hadn't restored any of her health it at least made her feel a bit better.
Rhea could feel her eyes start to droop a bit. She was getting tired, and the fatigue her body felt all over was starting to catch up to her. She tried to remember the last time she sat down and actually rested. Rhea couldn't remember. She couldn't stop though, sleeping would mean her death. She couldn't risk being attacked in the middle of the night and being caught off guard. But the temptation of sleep was almost too much to bear. Rhea grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders and found the driest place that she could. She plopped down against the trunk of a tree and watched as the water moved down the river.
It was peaceful watching the water move, calm one moment and then in an instant it changed. The ever flowing motion, the constant movement made Rhea think of how the world right now kept moving even though she was here in this artificial swamp. Children were still sleeping in their houses, adults still went to work and everyone was forced to live their lives as if nothing ever happened. Like this river everything kept going, moving constantly the same way it always did and how it always would. She wondered who had cried besides her at Kaspar's death. Who would cry if she died? Suddenly looking at this river made Rhea begin to question the world. Before she always just assumed that the world would move on, no matter what happened and that people would just get over it. But now that she herself was faced with her own mortality had the philosophical questions of her own destiny filled her head. She thought more and more about how her own mother's death had affected her and more importantly her brother; how that incident still stuck with him even now after 10 years and would continue to forever. And how this event with her would stick with him for as long as he was alive.
She tried to be selfish. She tried to listen to Katya's advice, but Rhea found this to be the hardest thing to follow. The killing she was used to by now. Being hungry she was used to, and she could get over the lack of sleep. But looking out for only herself was proving to be the one thing she had trouble grasping. It was hard when the reasons she seemed to do anything was not even for her own well being. During the reapings she believed that she was helping her brother, and in doing so caused him pain. She told him and the world that she was doing this for him, and only him. Then there was Kaspar...sweet Kaspar. She tried to protect him, even turning on an ally to do so. Not thinking for one moment of the consequences that her actions would cause. And now he was dead. The pinnacle of her failure was his death. She let him die. It seemed whenever she tried to be selfless she only hurt people more.
As the day began to end and the sky became a mixture of oranges and purples, Rhea felt her eyes get heavy. Her body began to settle, every molecule that held her together started to relax and give in to the call of sleep. She moved herself into a position that hid her a bit more from view, at least trying to camouflage herself into her surroundings a tad bit. She planted her spear into the ground and leaned against it slightly, but still holding onto hit. She needed to be ready in case someone came around looking for a fight. | |

| The sound wasn't too intense, but it was loud enough to be heard from here. | |
