Berry Searching

Pretty soon after she had left the boulders Genevieve reached some bushes. They looked like they could have some berries on them. Perfect, she thought happily. Genevieve got down on her stomach and commando crawled through the bushes. This way she would be invisible if somebody else came. Genevieve stopped at a promising looking bush and rifled through the leaves, hoping for something edible.

Genevieve manages to find two small berries, they look edible.

Genevieve smiled slightly as she found two berries. She held them up to her eye and inspected them visually. Then she broke one open to look at the inside. It looked like a blueberry. She smelled it cautiously. It smelt like a blueberry too. Finally Genevieve popped one in her mouth. Yep, it was a blueberry. She ate the other one as well. Then she got back down on the ground and crawled to another bush. Hopefully she would find edible berries on this one to.

The berries on the next bush were many, almost ten, but they were unfamiliar to Genevieve.

Genevieve smiled again as she found more berries. But her smile faded away as she took a closer look at them. They were completely unfamiliar to her. And the instructor at the Edible Items Station had told her not to eat anything unless she was absolutely sure of what they were. Genevieve chewed on her lip as she inspected the berry, running through all the berries she knew about. But she still didn't recognize it. Finally she moved on to another bush before she tried to eat one. Her next bush looked pretty promising as well.

This next bush had four red berries that looked like one popular among capitol citizens, perhaps it was the same type of berry.

Genevieve inspected the next set of berries very carefully. They looked like the ones that people ate in the Capitol. Genevieve squeezed her eyes shut and tried to remember what they looked like exactly. She had eaten some, so she should know. After about a minute of concentration Genevieve nodded in satisfaction. She was positive these were the berries she had eaten in the Capitol. She popped one in her mouth and chewed it carefully, searching for anything unusual. But there was nothing. She ate the other three before moving on. One more bush should satisfy both her hunger and her thirst.

The next bush contained two more blueberries.

Genevieve smiled with pleasure as she found two more blueberries. After checking they were really blueberries she popped them into her mouth. Then she lay still for a little while. Were eight berries enough to satisfy her hunger and thirst. The Capitol ones had been rather filling, but still. She should probably have at least ten before logic on. Genevieve crawled to another bush in hopes of at least two more edible berries.

The next bush was a good luck charm, with five more red capitol berries.

A wide grin spread across Genevieve's face as she inspected the next bush. It had five Capitol berries on it. Five! It was absolutely perfect for Genevieve's last bush of the day. She quickly stripped the bush of its berries and ate them. Then she crawled through some more bushes before reaching the edge of the little group of bushes. Then she stood up carefully and walked away, wondering where to go next. She probably needed somewhere to sleep now. She hadn't slept since her big sleep in the underground lake.

Genevieve wanders off, having avoided all the thorn bushes in the large patch.
