| Under one fence, over another, trek through the woods a decent ways. Jack took the round-about way to the train, stopping only to pick up the crate of moonshine for today's shipment. The coal transport would be headed off to District Eight, then to Three, then back to Twelve, according to various informants; no drop-off at the Capitol, so Jack's only concern would be peacekeepers. He'd waited a while for a chance to hit Three, but Two and Four still needed contacting. It was so close now, Jack could practically taste it. He moved as quickly as the crate allowed him to, across the wilds of the forest, until he met with the fence around the tracks. Under the fence, he and his wares went, and he stayed low to the ground until he was certain no 'Keepers were around. With the all clear, he rose, and made his way towards the car that he knew would be open. The massive cargo train went on quite a ways, and Jack was at the tail end of it, where goods wouldn't be unloaded until the next district on. The third car down was cracked open; Jack hopped into it as if he'd done it a hundred times. With a slight sliver of light from the doorway, he sought out a stack of crates to conceal his own crate. The mason jars clanked together as he set them down, way in the back of a stack of painkillers. One of his men had supposedly forged the orders to account for the extra box - hopefully, the guy had done his job right, and the stop in Eight wouldn't screw things up. After leaving the train car, Jack sealed it tight, just like all the other cars would be; no trace of any interference. Then, just as he stepped away, something made a sound behind him, and he spun, crouching low to make himself a smaller target for any peacekeepers. At the same time, he pulled the knife out of his boot, for at least some protection. But, what he saw when his eyes focused made his jaw drop, and he stared, frozen, at the person approaching him.

| "R-rose?" Her name tumbled from his mouth before he'd fully regained control of himself. Then he straightened himself, giving her one of his old smiles, "Finally realized that coal dust is better for your complexion than cow patties?” The knife twirled in his hand as he looked at the girl who seemed to be a ghost to him. How she managed to track him down to this very spot, he hadn’t the slightest clue, and that concerned him, but it wasn’t like that was the only issue - there were more pressing matters, like how the hell did she get back to Twelve and, another, why the hell did she return to Twelve. Jack thought about all this and more, while trying to process just exactly what was going on. “You’re not here to stay are you?” he spoke with a bit of sarcasm, giving her a wink. | |
