"Oh well," Rune shrugged as they came to the conclusion that they had no containers. "Well ya don't see my lovely hammer 'round here, do ya, Z?" she said with an obviously fake smile; she wanted her hammer. Then there was a noise, a cawing of sorts. Crows? she thought, turning towards the noise. But she couldn't see the birds anywhere. "Caw Caw to you too, mutts," She said to the sky, then looked back at Z and Shaunie. "Time for an adventure, eh? They said a break in a barrier, so look for somethin' like that," she told them before picking up the tune and skipping away from the fountain, looking for a fenceline or a wall to get through.

Zeke Rails

Zeke smiled as Shaun said it was fine, but Rune was upset. She didn't have her lucky-hammer. "Well that sucks, I'm kind of upset that there wasn't a Leather Whip at the Cornucopia." He said, pretty happily. The boy was bummed about not having a whip, but an axe was acceptable, also. Ca Caw, ca caw! Zee heard from a distance back. "Okay, we get it, you want us to leave, well just ask next time, okay? I appreciate the effort in trying to spook us out though. But we're going, okay?" He spoke, following Rune's lead.

Rune spoke of something like a barrier, and to look for it. From the Zeke knew, it was for the best to find the barrier. Y'know, if one of us could climb a tree, and there was a tree, this would be a lot easier. He thought to himself, scuffing his feet along the road. "Did it say anything else? Like any parts that made no sense alone, but would make sense with the barrier thing?" Zeke asked Rune, gripping his axe. He could still hear the crows shrieks, with got a bit annoying. Can someone please shut these things up? The boy thought to himself.

Zeke's eyes couldn't help but check up on Shaun. Even though Zeke wanted to live, it would be nice that if he couldn't or didn't, it was Rune or Shaun. He wanted to make sure that at least one of the trio got out of the Games. "Damn, anyone have like earplugs or headphones or something to blare out these crows?" The boy said, covering up his ears a little bit. He didn't like listening to the same noises over and over again, it was repetitive. But the boy continued to follow Rune, wherever she was going.

Shaun shook his head at the two talking about how they didn't have their favorite weapons. "Well you don't see me complaining about not having a bow when Rune has it, now do you?" He laughed and shrugged his shoulders to reposition his shield on his arm. As he followed after his allies, he twirled his sword absentmindedly. Eventually he stopped, getting slightly close to hitting something. He looked up at the sky, getting a little tired of that crow sound. As nice as it was to have the hint to move along, it would've been nicer to have something less noisy. But hey, at least they gave 'em a warning.

The crows died down but were now circling around them. Soon enough they found a fence, but they hadn't found a break in it yet.

Rune turned to look at Shaun when he mentioned the bow. "Whatcha gonna do with it without arrows?" She asked, "I mean if we got sponsors, I'd gladly trade with ya." That was about when they stumbled onto the fence. As she looked down the fence line, Rune kicked into that tune again. For a second, she turned around and looked at the boys, then she recited the first stanza.
"Along a barrier
you'll find a break in it
it's not meant to be inferior
but you'll be able to fit"
Then she skipped down the fence, humming to drown out the circling crows. She skipped back, about to head in the other direction, when she stopped again. "Any ideas, guys?"

Zeke Rails

Zeke just listened along as Shaun was upset that he didn't have a bow, but Rune did, but with no arrows. The group was at the fence, but no way out, and the crows stop crowing. But not they were in sight, flying around in circles. The boy had to admit that the monstrosities were getting quite intimidating. Now Rune was humming again, the hum that has not officially gotten stuck in his head, and he even started to quietly hum it in his head. "Well, we could go in different directions and try to find an opening, or we could break the fence. But then we could just crawl under it.. if that's even possible." Zeke said shrugging. "Or we could stay here." The boy said, quickly shaking his head at that idea. Zeke pointed to his left, "I'm going that way, you guys could follow me, or if you wanna split up I guess that'd be a bit easier." He said, starting to walk down the left side of the fence.

Looking to Rune after she spoke, Shaun smiled and replied, "Then I suppose we'll need to get us some sponsors." He turned his head to look at the fence that they had come across and listened as Rune recited what seemed to be the first line of the riddle. He followed her as she skipped along the fence and then looked back quickly when she asked if they had any ideas. Shaun shrugged and said in response, "Well...maybe when they said it's not meant to be inferior that it's not very obvious? That could be it." Shaun looked over when Zeke suggested splitting up and immediately shook his head at the idea. "No...because once we're split up, the Gamemakers will try to keep us separated. Most likely." With that he began to walk after him, looking for something in the fence that might allow them to pass.

Nothing appeared to show up yet, but soon enough the ground began to rumble and the earth shifted a bit. Luckily nothing happened, yet.

Shaunie was right. Or at least it seemed that way to Rune. "Can't let 'em break up the party, huh Zee?" She skipped after the boys, but yet again nothing stood out to her. Then the ground shook, and she nearly stumbled from the sudden shift. "Wonder what that was for," she pouted, steadying herself, then she got closer to the fenceline. "Maybe thats how it breaks, huh?"

Zeke didn't really mind that the D8s decided to follow him, there was a lesser chance of him dying. "I guess you're right." He said, nodding his head a bit. The boy didn't like the vibe of this arena, as it was.. unusual. The ground started to shake, but nothing really threatened them. Zeke stared into his axe's reflection, his face was still as beautiful as always. "If that's how it breaks.." The boy said, crouching down. His arm was now touching the fence, keeping balance.

Shaun sucked his teeth after they had been walking for a while and still didn't find this 'break in the barrier'. He was opening his mouth to say something, but then the ground began to shake and he stumbled slightly, grabbing onto the fence. Rune suggested that maybe that's how the fence would break, but he shook his head. "Maybe...but it's also likely they might want to split us up like that. Personally, I prefer the former." He smiled, trying to make light of the situation they could be in. Might as well, right?

As they were speaking to each other, suddenly the ground beneath Zeke began to shake and soon it pushed him up and he landed in some shrubs at the base of a mountain. Meanwhile, the other two, from district eight, were encased in a glass dome. It appeared they'd have to fight to the death.

Rune heard the shaking, but didn't feel it, even as Zeke was launched up up and away. "ZEE~" She called after him, starting to run but she was cut short by a wall. She looked around, her gaze eventually resting on Shaunie. "Oh, fuck," she muttered, her face serious for once in her life. Then she smiled, dropping the bow from her shoulder and holding it like a club. Her shield was ready in her other hand. "Well, Shaunie, looks like you were right," Rune was grinning now, "Time for some fun... remember our little competition? Winner gets first strike, Shaunie, how bout it? i still get ta block ya though~" She twirled the bow-turned-club a bit, then used it to beckon him forward. "Hit me with your best shot, mkay?!"

Shaun grabbed the fence again, watching Zeke fly up and away. He was about to try and ran afyer him, but before he knew it a dome surrounded him and Rune. And there appeared to be no way out. Shaun listened as Rune told him to go first. This should be an easy decision, right? He barely knew the girl...but still, she didn't deserve to die. However, if he was gonna survive she had to go. Twirling his sword, Shaun walked a little closer and said, "No hard feelings?" And with that, he swung his sword.

Rune lifted her shield as he approached, standing light on her toes so she could jump away. "None at all," she laughed, skipping away from the sword as best she could. "You can even take this ol' thing if ya win again." She swung the bow at his head, but had to jump again before she could register if it hit or not. "But ya gotta hit me first."

He watched his district partner laugh and gave a light chuckle as well. Rune had tried to jump away, but the boy from eight had managed to hit her torso. He was about to say something because it looked like it hurt a bit, but what would he say? Sorry? That would be stupid. He meant to do that. Sure, part of him might be holding back, but he still wanted to live. Why do I have to be so polite... Shaun shook his head and ducked to dodge the incoming attack and countered with a stab without thinking about it. He blinked when he realized he did that, but didn't do anything else, not even respond...he was too focused.

Rune stumbled a bit in her jump, feeling something warm trickle down her side. Blood. It had to be. "Nice shot Shaunie~" She said, prancing about as she tried to dodge his sword strikes. "But one little nick ain't gonna do ya much more. I said your best shot, Shaunie~" She charged forward, swinging the bow in hopes of actually connecting this time.

Shaun smiled lightly when he complimented him on the hit and he replied graciously with, "Why thank you Rune." He chuckled and watched her dodge his next attack and saw her trying to counter. He backed up, hoping to get out of the way of the weapon before slicing at her with his own. She mentioned that one nick wouldn't do much good and he shrugged. "Well, you could just let me win. But hey, where's the fun in that?"

Rune frowned as her bow fell short, sliding into the dirt as he jumped away. "Well I'm just stating the facts, Shaunie," she giggled. With a hop to the side, she launched into another charge.
