| Delilah was walking and as she did she heard him. Jack? She whipped her head around and saw him. An expression of sadness washed over her as she was put up at the top of the stage and she looked directly over at Jack. He cared, and that alone wanted to make her crumble. It felt like so long waiting up there for a volunteer but eventually one came and right away she ran to the back and he hugged Jack, and her arms wrapped around him. | |

| Delilah continued to hug him, this was the longest that she had hugged him, but the reapings had scared her, she was almost sent off to her death, and she couldn't handle it. That's when Delilah broke down, and she shook a bit as tears poured out. "I didn't choose to!" She said not even able to snap at him. | |

| "Shh, hey, I know, I know." For once, Jack was regretting something he'd said. He'd even admit to it. And now Delilah was in tears and it was mostly his fault. He held her tight for a bit, letting her fall apart without having to look up at him. After a bit, though, he had to try to do something right. "Alright, 'Lilah, let's get you out of here," he pulled away from the hug, but kept one arm around her, moving to her side. "Home's a waitin'" he said in the stupidest voice possible. Now that the danger had passed, he was just trying to get her to stop crying.

| Paris was never afraid of reaping day. She knew that if the time came, she would feel it and be ready, without doubt. Her total confidence continued as children filed in, their families milling about along the side. Her dark eyes washed over the crowd, her face still and calm. As the woman made her way to the stage, Paris tightened her knuckles. Something felt wrong. Her name wasn't called, but she heard a cry from the side. She barely thought before she shoved through the crowd.
"I volunteer!" Paris said sternly, staring up at the Capitol's representative. Soon the other girl was ushered off and rejoined to her friends, leaving Paris and the male tribute. She waved, a soft smile plastered onto her face. She could win this, she knew she could. | |

| Delilah had cried for awhile, but she was thankful for the girl who volunteered for her, and she needed to thank her or something, Delilah couldn't let that just go. Soon enough she sniffled as Jack said home was waiting but she wiped her tears off her face. "I have to say goodbye to her Jack, I have to thank her, she's the reason why I get to still be here in the district. I have to." She said shaking her head and twisting around to see the girl and the boy on stage being ushered to their rooms for goodbyes. | |

| "Alright," Jack said as she twisted around in his grip. He let her go. "Alright, go. I'll wait," he said, watching Delilah take off for the Justice Building. "Give her my thanks too!" he called as an after thought. Then he stood and waited for Delilah to return.

| Delilah walked away from Jack for the time being and then she walked towards the building. She had to thank the girl. Soon the peacekeeper had let her into the room, and she remembered the girl having the name of Paris. She looked over at the girl. "I'm so sorry that you have to go in but I have to let you know before you die, for my own personal self." Delilah said and she took a deep breath in. "This year was my last year, and now that you've volunteered you've given me something much greater than you think, I know you didn't do it for me, but you've given me my life back, you've given me the path that lets me live my life, and I can't ever be able to repay you for the brave and generous act you've done." | |
