| Louisa Vance Louisa opened her eyes, the late morning sun sneaking through the paned windows above her bed. She exhaled, running her hands over her face, to rub the sleep out of her eyes. Mornings hadn't ever been something that the teenager looked forward too, in fact, she preferred sleeping. But, as she blinked more, and felt her energy come back to her, the girl decided that it was indeed time to rise and shine. The clock on her nightstand read 11:07, displaying her lack of care towards an actual alarm. Or maybe it was just that she had barely any responsibilities on this particular Saturday morning. Either way, she didn't care.
Swinging her slim legs out of her bed, the girl stretched, yawned, and sat there, wondering if she really wanted to get up. Eventually, she did so, after taking a shower and getting dressed. A pair of jeans, a bright sweater, and her favorite boots would be providing for her outfit that day, as she quickly fixed her hair in a ponytail. The air inside the Vance house was calm and still, which was odd. Lou had expected to hear something from the halls, at least footsteps or a voice. Then again, she wasn't exactly woken up yet. Looking down at her shoes, the girl did a double take. She was only wearing one of her favorite boots. Where was the other?
A sense of anger filled her cheeks as she stomped out of her room, and down the hall (only wearing one shoe, might I add). She had one person in mind for the thief, Avery. Who else would be such a pest? "Avery!" Louisa called as she descended down the spiral staircase. "I know you took it! Give it back!" As she jumped off the stairs, she silenced herself, peeking down the hallway with narrowed eyes. Where oh where had her misbehaving brother gone? | |

Avery Vance -- District Two |
Avery had awoken early this morning, ready to take on the day and be mischievous. He had approached Louisa's room with the utmost caution, hoping not to wake her too early. Nabbing one of her boots, Avery was going in for a second when she had rolled over in bed and he had to run from the room. That had been well over two hours ago, and Avery was still sitting in one of the closets on the lower floor of the home, patiently abiding his time, waiting for Louisa.
As he was beginning to doze off, the boot sitting to his side, Avery heard footsteps coming towards the stairs. Soon, Louisa's voice followed, yelling for him. Angry footsteps fell onto the stairs, but her voice was silent after Avery heard the final thud at the bottom of the stairs. Snickering, Avery pressed himself closer against the wall of the closet, next to the opening end of the door, right at the knob. Holding his breath, Avery waited to hear Louisa's footsteps coming towards him. Gripping her boot and smiling from ear-to-ear, Avery waited in that little closet under the stairs. |

| Louisa Vance Louisa kept her eyes narrowed as she looked down the hallway, light surging through the windows from the living room and kitchen area. She knew that somewhere her brother was probably snickering, or trying to suppress his laughter at her obvious frustration. Running a hand through her curled hair, the girl groaned, looking from one end of the hallway to the next. "Avery," she called in a suddenly sing-song like voice. "Come out, come out wherever you are!" 'So I can steal back my boot!' she almost added, but instead she simply bit her lip. Thinking she heard something, she looked over her shoulder, near the entry to the kitchen.
She decided to walk towards the kitchen, where a supply closet was also sitting. "I will find you, you little twit," Louisa muttered coldly. The teenager continued along, moving at a slow jog. It was kind of awkward, running with one boot on one foot, then one without any shoe. Yet, the uneven height didn't stop her from looking for her pesky brother.

Avery Vance -- District Two |
Avery readjusted his footing, leaning his ear closer to the door. He heard Louisa calling for him, tempting he to come out. Avery almost yelled out, but bit down hard on his tongue, causing tears to well up in his eyes. Holding in the pain, Avery moved himself away from the door, moving behind some of the brooms and mops that hung from hooks. Placing the boot in an empty bucket to his left, Avery sat with his back to the wall, staring at the door. Louisa was likely to come through the door at any moment, and he wanted to look as innocent as Avery-ly possible. |

| Louisa Vance Louisa jogged over to the kitchen, entering the room as she searched for a quick snack. What, finding shoes was hungry work! Finding a ripe apple, the girl reached for it and took a loud bite, the sound of the skin cracking echoing throughout the Vance home. With that, she exited the kitchen and entered the bright hallway once more. Her single boot tapped against the hardwood flooring as she reached the closet. She thought she heard something shuffling in it, but the girl couldn't be sure. "Dead meat, Avery, dead meat," Lou sneered, taking another bite of her apple before swiftly yanking the door open.
