| She dug her hand into the bowl and pulled out the female tribute's name, "Travis Davenport!" She called out and then she dug into the male's bowl. "Isabelle Rafell!" |

| Stacey breathed a sigh, if only for a moment. That wasn't her name, not even close. Thank god and all things holy. In her state she'd never survive the Games. But her relief was short lived. Travis Davenport. The name took a moment to register. It wasn't possible, was it? He was almost out, he couldn't get called in now! Stacey clapped a hand over her mouth to stop the cry that tried to claw its way out. She searched the crowd for the boy, seeing him just a bit away, heading for the stairs. She wanted to call out to him, but that wouldn't accomplish anything, it could even get her killed, so she kept her hand tight over her face. Please, oh please, couldn't someone save him? | |

| Travis smiled when he realized the female name wasn't Stacey's. It was a horrible thing to think to be honest, but at this point he didn't care. He was just glad she would be alright...but then he heard someone else's name called. His name. He looked to Stacey, eyes wide and he tried to say something to her, but the words wouldn't come out. It felt like he was choking at that point, trying to get something out. He felt himself walking towards the stage, his feet acting on their own. He was climbing the steps now, gulping nervously and when he did it seemed as though everyone in the audience could hear. He looked out at them, trying to find Stacey and when he did he locked eyes with her. He didn't want to leave her, not like this. He wanted to rush down the steps and wrap his arms around her, but he couldn't. Not now. He had to stay strong for his brothers and sisters. | |

| Stacey stood rooted to the spot as the space remained silent. How hard was it, really, to say those words? I volunteer. Two words that could save his life, but no one said them. Someone did for the girl. But not for Travis. Why? The tears were falling now, silently down her cheeks because Stacey didn't dare make a sound. It wasn't long until they were taken off stage, and Stacey couldn't just stand there anymore. She sprinted towards the Justice building while everyone else went about their own lives.
The girl had to wait then, let his actual family go first. They, of course, had the right, but she couldn't help but feel like they'd take him away before she could speak to him. And god, did she need to speak to him. Finally, they left, without even a look at her, but Stacey didn't care. She slipped into the room as fast as she could, and looked around for him. "Travis..." She couldn't say anything more for fear of being unable to stop sobbing, so she just ran to him, wrapping him in her arms. "Oh my god Travis...you..." She burried her head into his shoulder, trying to keep her tears silent. He didn't need her to be like that now. Not today.

| Travis barely noticed it, but he was led to the room inside the Justice Building where he could say his final goodbyes. His family was the first to come...just his brothers and sisters though. His parents didn't bother to show up. Go figure. His older sister was the first one to start crying as she hugged him and whispered, "I'm sorry...we were all supposed to stick together, like a family should..." He felt himself shed a tear and pat her on the back gently as he replied, "Don't worry 'bout it...I'll be home before you know it." The others took their turns hugging him and saying goodbye and they ended it with a group hug. For all he knew, it would be the last he would ever have. He let go of all of them and stepped back, sighing as they were shown out.
It hadn't even been thirty seconds before the next visitor came in, and when she did, Travis couldn't help but smile. "You came..." All of a sudden her arms were wrapped around him and he had his arms around her. He could tell she was about to cry, if she wasn't already, and he gently brushed his hand through her hair, whispering, "Shhh Stace...it's gonna be alright..."

| "Of course I came, you moron," Her words were muffled by his shoulder; she didn't want to show her face yet, being all teary and terrified, it wouldn't be a good way to leave him. Shhh Stace...it's gonna be alright... But what if it wasn't? "Oh god, I hope so..." A few more tears soaked into his shirt, but it was probably already too drenched by now to be noticed. After another second, she finally looked at him, trying to blink those terrible tears away. "Travis, I... there's something I..." she blinked again, looked away. She had to tell him before they pulled her away...but...but was it really right for him to know now? Before he went off to die and leave her alone?

| He allowed her to cry into his shirt, chuckling when he was called a moron. Then she responded to him and he promptly stated, "Well I know so." He looked into her eyes when she pulled away. She said his name and her words drifted as she looked away. When she did he waited a couple seconds before gently taking her chin in his fingers and turned her head towards him so they made eye contact. He smiled reassuringly, his eyes showing no fear or sadness even though those were his exact feelings as he asked, "What is it? You can tell me...you might not get another chance." | |

| At first her words didn't exactly make sense as he said, "But if I become a father then that means I...oh..." His eyes widened as he leaned back a little. He was confused on what to do. He didn't even know what to say. So, he did what came naturally. He leaned in, brushing his lips against hers gently, resting his head against hers as he pulled away. He stepped back, his hands leaving her sides. "Don't worry. I'll make certain our child doesn't grow up without a father..." | |

| Stacey gave a nod as he realized what she'd meant. She tried to smile, even as he kissed her so softly, but it was getting difficult. Reality was slowly settling in, and she wasn't sure she could bare it. He stepped back from her then, but she didn't reach out for him; wasn't it better to get a bit of distance? "I-" A door opened before she could say anything. Stacey knew a peacekeeper was coming in to pull her away, but she wasn't ready to go just yet. Fighting back tears, she grabbed his hand, if only for a moment. "Travis...I love you..." Please make it back alive. It was terrible to say it now, here, but he could be right, it might be her last chance to say it. Then the peacekeeper was there, dragging her away. She thought about fighting to stay a moment longer, but no. She couldn't leave him on a bad note. | |

| Travis watched with longing as she was being escorted, and heard her say something that made him want to run and hold her forever, killing anyone who stood in his way. And to that he responded, "I love you too Stacey...I'll come home...just...just take care of Blaze for me while I'm away." And then that was it. She was gone, maybe forever from his life. He turned around and breathed out deeply. He would not show weakness. He would not die. As he stepped out of the Justice Building he realized that he needed to come home. And no one would stop him. | |
