The Reapings! (35th Games)

The District 7 escort steps up on stage and smiles with blindingly white teeth at the crowd filled with blank stares looking up at her. Without a moment to lose she starts speaking in a high pitched voice that holds the very distinctive Capitol accent in it, "Welcome, welcome everyone to the Reapings! Today one young man and woman will be chosen for the honor of participating in the 35th Annual Hunger Games!" She steps up to the big bowls containing the names of every child in the district from 12 to 18, little strips of white paper are filled about half way up that hold the fate of two people in that crowd today. "Now then, Ladies first!" she says, as she breaks away from the microphone set up in the center and goes to the first bowl on her right. With a few twirls of her hand as if she is deciding on which slip looks most enticing, she reaches into the bowl filled with girls names...

The escort dips her hand into the large bowl and delicately lifts up a single slip of white paper from the bowl full of females names. With a quick yet planned motion she walks back to the center microphone and opens it up, but not before clearing her throat before announcing the name aloud to the anxious crowd.

"Samantha Woods. And now for the boys."



Copying the same thing she had just done a minute or two earlier, the escort makes her way to the front of the large, clear bowl and waves her hand above it for a few seconds before letting it plunge down into the stack of slips. She pulls one out, quickly makes her way back to the center of the stage and reads it aloud.
