| It was cold, it was dark, and Fio was bored out of her mind. It was not like her to complain, but there was something about today that got to her. At least she doesn't complain out loud. Fio was out on the fields, for God knows why - probably due to the cold season. That meant new grains to be planted and sowed. She already done her part of the Rye fields and was just sitting around, watching the others work on their allocated rows. The sky was squished with clouds, with the sun attempting to get attention down below from the grains. Grains grains grains, that's all the district ever sees. How can one stand being around these for decades? Fio sighed loudly and got up from the ground and went over to the Barley fields. The people around just ignored her as she strolled. She pushed herself up and sat on the fence. It was one of her favourite fields to be in; there was something about the smell of barley that made her a little happier.
She should be getting back to her siblings stuck at home, but a selfish part of her was grumbling within. Like she just really needed the time alone; quiet and peaceful. No stress from the siblings, no stress from the work, no stress about food. "Just an hour," Fio swore to herself, "an hour to forget everything, and then I'll go back to them." She dusted the dirt off her dress and casually swung her legs as they lightly hit the wood of the fence, creating a soft, slow, rhythmic beat. A cold wind whistled by, bringing out the scent even stronger than before. Fio closed her eyes and grinned. Well, maybe it wasn't so bad being around grains for decades.

| It was quiet in the Barely fields, a silence that would be unbearable if the wind didn't howl every once in a while. Storm had heard that people used to sing while they worked, but they didn't nowadays. Probably some peacekeeper thing before he started working. He was just finishing his designated area when a new sound met his ears. He glanced up, catching sight of a girl sitting on the fence. Just sitting. He finished his work and straightened up. Casually, he walked towards her. "Finished early?" he asked as if he'd known the girl all his life, when in fact this was the first time he'd ever seen her. | |

| Fio was enjoying the breeze and taking in the smell, eyes still closed as she almost drifted off into a daydream. But a distinct voice shook her up and she jumped, eyes quickly prying open, falling back onto the ground behind her. She fell with a loud thud and a grunt, laying there for a while. "I'm fine!" She said a little loudly, rubbing her back as she got up. She caught a glimpse of that guy but only now did she take notice in him. He was much shorter than her, and slightly younger. Maybe she just looked old. She climbed back over the fence as a smile crepted up while she repeated, "I'm fine." It only hit her then. People. People. An actual person is here right in front of her. Someone she don't know, to be exact. She stood there, panicking inside, not knowing what to do. Her face recovered back to a neutral, blank face.
It took her a couple of seconds to remember that he had asked her something. "Oh.. Oh yeah. I worked by the Rye fields," Fio jerked her thumb to the field on their left as she continued, "Wanted to drop by here so I hurried the work today." Her voice seemed as if to get softer as the sentence rolled on. Her eyes darted from the sky to the ground, and all around, but rarely straight into his eyes. Well for one is that she was way taller, almost a head. But also, she wasn't used to talking, neither did she like it a lot. Fio was always cautious about what she say or do, anything could easily come biting back at her. But even so, she felt obligated to continue in some way. "You done too? It must be nice working in these fields," Fio asked quietly, not really sure if it was something she should've said. She was really bad at this.

| Storm blinked as she fell over, stepping forward to try and help. "Are you-" "I'm fine, I'm fine," she said. Okay, whatever. He stepped back as she climbed over the fence. For a moment, he stood in shock. The girl was tall. He had to actually look up. Look up to a girl! That'd never happened. Ever. She was saying something, so Storm tried to focus. "Well, when you're done, you're done," he said with a smile, "Guess it doesn't really matter where you work" After all, she was done too, wasn't she? | |

| Fio shrugged, looking past him to the fields he just came from. "Well... Doesn't it? The Rye fields would never smell this nice," her soft voice paused as she took a whiff of the therapeutic smell. Her shoulders shook as she stifled a short laugh, "The Rye fields just smell like weird rice." She peered towards the boy, noting his expression. She wondered if he wasn't as happy as he shows to be around here. "Do you like working in the fields?" Her mind spoke itself before she could stop, the last of her words trailing off. She stood a little straighter, realising that she was going into her own world. The conversation must be getting weird. She was so bad at this. Yeah, she should just grow old alone with nine cats or something. "Oh right.. I'm... um, Fio." Fio hesitantly gave her name out, biting her lower lip as she wasn't sure if she should've done that. But.. it was manners right? Right. She sat back down on the fence, reducing her height to almost his as her long legs were kept bent and off the ground. | |

| "Weird rice, huh?" Storm repeated with a chuckle. He wasn't experienced with Rye, so he'd have to take her word for it. Do you like working in the fields? The boy had to hold back a laugh at that. Who actually liked this place, huh? He shrugged. "You do what you gotta do," he said with a smile. After an awkward pause, she introduced herself. "Fio, huh? Well, it's nice to meet you. I'm called Storm," he watched as she sat back on the fence. At least he didn't have to look up too much anymore. | |

| (Lup told me I could, just in case you were wondering..) Castiel was at his home, quietly working around the grain field his dad's boss owned. The boss didn't like him, just for the fact that  they never really got along. After all, this boss killed Castiel's father's wife and daughter, and almost killed his son. The boy was chopping away at the old grains, that wouldn't be of use to the boss. Cas picked them up, throwing them into the garbage can, right when he saw the boss, ahead, pointing at him. The boy shrugged, ignoring him, but then a peacekeeper walked over. That's when Castiel knew he did something wrong. The boy didn't know what exactly, but it was something. The peacekeeper walked over to the boy opening up his whip, lashing it on Castiel. Then the evil doer did it three more times before the boy realized he should run. That's exactly what he did. The boy ran right into the grain fields, hoping to lose the peacekeeper. But, when he looked back, both the boss and peace keeper were getting ready to pummel him. The peace keeper whipped Castiel again, hoping to slow the boy down, but he kept running. In fact, it sped him up as he ran faster and faster. Now, he had gotten into the district's community grain field.
As Castiel ran, he looked back. They were nowhere to be seen. His shirt was bloody, and that could cause people to take attention to it. The boy, stilling running, took the shirt off and continued to sprint. There were bloody slashes all over the boy's body, and it hurt. Then, he came up to two people. One looked familiar. Right then, he paused. Castiel stopped right where the two were. The boy took his index and middle finger, saluting to them just with those two fingers. That was hello in sign language.

| Fio looked afar to the rows and rows of grains shrugging, "Sometimes I hate it, and sometimes I love it. Because there could be things way worse than just grains." She smiled, glancing back to the boy just as he introduced himself. She paused though, not really knowing what else to say. What's the right thing to say? ...Uh. Um. "That's a really nice name," she mumbled, though words still filled with animation. Just with a hint of uncertainty. Before anything else could happen (or more like not happen), a boy came sprinting up to them, shirtless and covered in blood. Geez is it sprinting day today? But Fio pushed herself off the fence when he stopped and stared at them. She titled her head to a side as he flipped up two fingers. She raise her hand, hesitating in mid air before doing a small wave. "Are.. you okay?" That's a stupid thing to ask. But she continued to try and covered that up. 'What happened?" She asked, looking past him to see if the culprits of this violence was around. But her mind immediately thought about what kind of bad things he did to get this punishment. | |

| Storm didn't hear much else of what the girl said. He was too distracted by yelling in the distance. Years of stealing convince a person to pay attention when there's yelling. He spun about, only to catch sight of a familiar form coming straight for him. Was that...yep. The boy had come to a stop beside Storm and Fio, and begun signing. No doubt, it was Castiel.
Judging from the shirtlessness and yelling and no breath, one could only assume he was in trouble. Fio asked the basic questions, but she was so quiet, the deaf boy probably couldn't read her lips. He tried to do a few signs to match Fio's words; he was a bit rusty though, so he probably accidentally said some weird stuff. "Peacekeepers?" he asked, speaking a bit slower so Cas could read his mouth. After all, his sign for Peacekeeper was probably severely different from Cas's.
