| The hooves of a horse created rhythmic thuds to the grassy patches as Derald rode one of them out. Tess made him wake up early in the morning to bring the horses out for a run and she'd waste ice on his face, or shirt, to get it done. He brought the horse from a full canter to a trot after a few rounds around the fields. He picked one of the scarce few that would enjoy a gallop'n graze by the field, the Black feisty Mustang that does whatever she likes. Great, the sun was coming out. This was one of the worst times to be out here with the sun rising and blazin'. Derald pulled his feet out from the stirrups and got off her after he pulled her to a halt. He sighed and sulked as he let Persephone, the name which he would've given even though Tess disagreed, out to roam for a while. Pulling out his hat, he squint toward the blazing ball of fire, as if willing for it to go away. He then turned away, not really wanting to go blind and just followed behind to horse merrily prancing around, chewing on the low lying grass. It was so boring around here, he doesn't know how that horse can find so much joy in watch grass grow and chewing them off. It was like watching paint dry and then scraping it off and then rinse and repeat. "Good girl," Derald absentmindedly said as he gave Sephy a good stroke before strolling away to let her be again, coming up with something to get back at his cousin for that icy wake up call that morning. | |

| Derald was deep in thought as he continued plotting out a good one this time. He walked around aimlessly, slightly tripping over tall grass but continued anyways. Until a lightbulb and his face lit up and he came to a halt, "that's it!" Only then did he realise a girl right in front of him, another step forward and he's trip over her as well. He blinked a few times and looked towards the sky, then around the empty place, and back to the girl. She was a few inches shorter than he was, ginger haired and pale as she smiled towards him. "Well I'll be, guess my cousin ain't the only one," Derald grinned and tipped his hat down, "howdy, and mornin' to you." He shook his head and shoved his hands and his pockets, "ain't no problem at all, it's pretty boring out here at this time of the day anyways, as dead as a possum in a pot." Derald looked over her shoulder to notice a dog running along the fields as well, close by to the horse. He glanced back to the smiling girl and introduced himself, and smiles are often contagious, "name's Derald, pleasure to meet ya!" Derald paused for a little while before deciding to ask, chuckling, "so you're up at this hour of the day, just to walk ya dog?" With him not being to big of a fan of dawns, he just had to ask. | |

| Beverly "Bev" Muse---Female---17---District 10---She watched the horse as it walked a bit, and then her dog was just running around the horse and she giggled a bit at the sight, perhaps they'd be friends of sort the two animals, they have a bond with each other better than humans did with an animal. Beverly heard him introduce himself as Derlad. She thought for a moment about how that had a nice ring to it, maybe he'd be a possible idea for a friend, she didn't have many friends recently and it'd be nice to have one, but being nice and charming like she normally was. Her smile was almost like it could never stop, good thing she smiled a lot otherwise her corners of her mouth would be hurting a bit. "I'm Bev." She said introducing herself, "it's nice to meet you too." She made a note of and she was being polite but a lot of people she knew were like this in the district. When he mentioned her being up at this early hour in the morning to walk her dog she laughed a bit, "No, no. Not just to walk my dog, I had to feed the farm animals like the pigs and such." She said with a smile, "Messy little buggers they are but at the end of the day they're pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself!" Bev said and then she motioned toward her dog, "That's Russel, he's roughly three years old, these days, he's still got the energy of a young lil' pup, though." | |

| Derald decided to take a seat down on the ground, away from the glaring sun of course, and pulled off his hat, settling it down beside him. He glanced up to Bev, as if inviting her to take a seat too. He never seen her around much at all, maybe once or twice, at the barn with a familiar face. But there were so many faces he saw, and he ain'tt of those faces rememberers. He chuckled as he looked over to the display of farms scattered over at the end of the fields, "well that makes a little more sense. But pigs? Are they now? My cousin always hated those 'darn cute' things! And so I guess the reason why my uncle's farm doesn't have pigs still remains a mystery."
When Bev pushed their attention towards the animals, Derald spotted the border collie and he grinned as he got up and knelt on his knees. "Well he's a handsome ain't he? A lively one too I reckon, 3's still a young age, he still got loads to go!" Derald ask as he whistled a light tune, patting his thighs a few times, coaxing Russle towards them. "I got a border collie back home too, prolly just lazin' around soakin' up the sun," Derald looked towards Bev and smiled. If Dusk had noticed Derald gone she'd probably be out here looking for him right now, but at the moment, the newly greeted sun was of greater attention to the dog than her owner. He then remembered about his own little morning companion. "Oh right, that beauty over there's Persephone. We all call her Sephy for short though, her name's a mouth full!" He whistled a lower and rougher tune towards the Mustang, a tune Derald would use to call the horses. But as he should've known, the Mustang looked over to them and huffed, bending back down to chew on grass. He shook his head, "she's a stubborn one really. Listens to no one." He hollered out to the horse as a joke as he sat back down, "yeah, I love ya too Seph!" The horse grunted irritatedly in reply, wanting to just eat her grass and wheat. He picked up and spun his hat around, deciding to get to know Bev, though how was another question. Man he really needed more friends. "So do you only have pigs around your farm? That'll be a great place to throw my cousin in," Derald just asked without really having it processed through his brain.

| Beverly "Bev" Muse---Female---17---District 10--- Beverly watched as he sat down on the grass, it looked rather inviting and hey, what better way to make a friend, than to sit down and talk with them? Beverly took up on the invite and she walked a few steps and then took a seat next to him. It was nice out this fine morning. "We have tons of pigs, it's what we mainly have, I mean of course throw in some chickens, ducks, or cows, but that's about it, we don't have much else, maybe one goat, not too sure anymore. Then there's two horses but that's to help pull different carts around and such." Beverly said and smiled. She started to smile as Derlad was drawing his attention towards Russel, the dog was better at making friends than her, that was true. Bev laughed a bit at the thought then she smiled at Derald. "Yea, 3 years is still young, but sometimes they calm down after three years, but ol' Russel 'ere is lively as can be." She said and grinned a bit. That's when he had mentioned that he had a border collie at home too that was probably just lazin' around, that'd be understandable, Bev would be doing that if she hadn't had any animals to take care of. "What's his or her's name?" Bev asked Derlad about his border collie. That was when he introduced Sephy the horse and smiled, "She's beautiful, Derald, sometimes best beauty comes from the little things like stubbornness." She said to Derald and then laughed how Sephy responded to him. "Well, I think we have some room 'ere for yer cousin." She said laughing a bit, mostly teasing around, "As long as she doesn't mind the biggest pigs of all, my brothers." | |

| Derald grinned, shaking his head as he commented, "sometimes the farm family's so big you lose count of 'em all." Even he tried to make a mental note of all the animals back at the farm, and he couldn't be absolutely sure of how many chickens or sheep or cows there are. He couldn't help but yawn and rub his stubborn eyes, protesting to open to the morning. "Would prolly help if it wasn't so early in the mornin', " he grumbled, hand unconsciously playin' with the grass by the fields.
Russel came by them soon after Derald gestured to him. They sat on the grass lazily watching the sun crawl up the sky. But the dog could sit still for long. "Maybe it's been something they're eatin', givin' them that boost of red bull energy all these years," Derald spouted out the most random of reasoning to it. Not really putting much thought first. Lookin' back at what food he gave his own border collie, it might totally be possible. "Dusk's her name, unusual attitude that girl has; gettin' all hyped up at one hour, then lazin' around like a slug the next!" He sighed, but a smile crept up as it did, it was what made Dusk such an awesome lil bugger. Derald started to laugh as Bev mentioned about beauty in stubbornness, "well then she has a chuck full of it that's for sure!" He shook a finger at Bev as they moved on to the topic of his cousins as well as her siblings. "We should round her in for it and she'll prolly help tighten their pants up a little if she was there! Now, the real scientific pigs are the actual problem," Derald's grin widen, starting to really like the idea of throwing her in there. His stomach growled and he hung his head backwards, "I'm starvin, and the horse gets to eat first, joy." He turned to Bev and asked, "are you any hungry?" Maybe a brilliant idea forming up.
