Ariana crept through the tunnels she had found silently. Her breathing was quiet, almost too soft to be heard. She didn't want anyone knowing her whereabouts. If they came down this tunnel they would probably see her anyway, but still. So far Ariana had avoided contact with the other tributes, which was fine by her. They'd all want to kill off the little 12-year-old, just to get it over and done with. And she didn't have Hudson anymore. He'd never turned up at the fields. Had something happened to him on the way over? No, Ariana refused to believe it. He was just a bit slow. They would meet up again later. Right now Ariana had to find the end of these tunnels. She kept creeping forward, searching for an exit.

There was still no exit so far by the looks of it but there had to be one eventually.

Ariana sighed as she saw no exit. Oh well, she would find one eventually. They couldn't just have one endless tunnel. How boring would that be? No, the Capitol like excitement, and that meant an Arena that was more elaborate than a Dome and an endless tunnel. She just had to keep walking. But walking meant there was plenty of opportunity to think, and Ariana's thoughts kept drifting to Hudson. Where was he? Was he dead? Was he one of the two cannons? One of them had been for that Viktor boy with the fire, but who was the other one for? Hudson hadn't made an appearance yet, so maybe he had died. But how? Ariana shook her head vigorously. Her thoughts were just going round in circles, always coming back to one question. How had Hudson died, if he was indeed dead? Nobody else had been at the fields. Had some mystery mutt laot out of the trees? Or had the Gamemakers chosen some other way to end his life. Ariana shook her head vigorously and kept walking, still searching for an exit. Hopefully something would appear soon, she didn't want to be left alone with her thoughts.

Ariana almost let out a squeal of joy as she saw an exit. She stopped herself just in time though. She may not be alone in this part of the Arena. Ariana hurried forward, eager to get away from the tunnel and the bad thoughts she had been thinking. Hopefully the new place would be interesting. Hopefully it would give her a distraction. All Ariana wanted was something other than a tunnel.
