| ---District 2---Female---18---One of the last stations Lenina was going to go to before maybe heading for lunch or even to kill a few practice dummies was the medical station. She would be the first to admit that while she had no trouble injuring or killing a person, fixing them was not a strong suit. But she was mainly learning the basics for her own benefit. She had no intention on healing anyone at any point, if they were lying on the ground dying, asking for help her idea would be to break their neck and help them that way; and she felt that it would be the same for anyone else if they saw her dying. In the end it was only herself that she could fully rely on and that meant learning basic first aid. She watched quietly as the instructor showed her on a dummy how to bandage up a wound, disinfect a cut and what a few different plants that had healing properties. She first attempted wrapping a wound on her own arm, feeling that it was secure and tight she showed the instructor who gave her a slight nod in acceptance. Next she moved onto wrapping up the leg of the training dummy. She pulled the bandage secure, but when she looked up to the instructor he nodded telling her to do it again. She tried once more but got the same response. "It is too tight, you would cut off the circulation to the leg." He added solemnly. But really is that a bad thing? I mean, one less person to worry about. But instead of stating her own thoughts she put on a fake smile and redid the bandage, this time doing it only tight enough to stop the 'bleeding' but not enough to totally stop blood flow to the leg she had wrapped up.
This station bored Lenina, she really didn't care about learning how to help people. In the end all but one could survive, and healing just prolonged the inevitable truth that each person in here would eventually die somehow. Even Lenina, whether it was in the games or many years down the road back in district 2. Every person signed their own death warrant the moment they were born, and maybe it was a little morbid to think that way but it took the one thing that people feared away from Lenina. She truly was fearless. Not even death could shake her. | |
